Pull up.
Dap the boys up.
Ask him how’s his body’s holding up.
Share some yards.
Throw a couple mocks out there depending on who can handle it 😅😂
Close the loop up.
Share a coffee & few sweets together.
More mocks.
More laughs.
Team photo.
Dap up the boys one last time & wish them & their families well for the new week.

Always good to tap in with boys to hear how their families, work life + training balance is going.
+ hearing if anyone’s got any new sales on runners haha.

Well I did it. I did the thing. #100miles , still unreal and still unreal that I didn’t break or crumble along the way. Didn’t think I’d make it after we ripped the first 42k too fast. Turns out consistency and a good coach @kms_with_akt will set you up for success.

Massive shout out to my lovely wife @aribeatie for tolerating the endless hours training and the grumpy mornings after a night session 😅

The boys @ellcole89 @callumpaki @r.olfy and @calebpirini your banter, laughs and the general vibes carried us all through !

Most lads brought their wife’s to crew but I had @shimeomcg who once again crushed it and as pictured at the end of the video loved every minute 🤣 cheers Shano, bloody legend mate, I wanted for nothing out there as you had it all covered!!

Lastly, thanks to @northland100ultra for an epic event. The weather was fickle and didn’t want to play the game but that only made the achievement that much more sweeter! Great vibes and energy throughout so thank you for hosting! (& @hisandherseventsnz !)

Rest time. No idea what’s next but taking a bit of time to actually spend weekends with the family for a bit 😅

Northland100 Miler - Road to 200

Big thanks to @see.dan.run.nz for the company. Much needed in the wee hours.. @kms_with_akt for the programming as per usual - lots of positives to take from this as we line up for 200miles in 3.5 weeks time

Mean mahi from the boys @callumpaki @calebpirini @r.olfy @brendan.james.dean all knocking off big races and grinding through the hard parts. These races are more like a pilgrimage by the back half.

Awesome event from @northland100ultra and @hisandherseventsnz as always. Loved it - will be back no doubt.

More thoughts to come later but time to recover.

NORTHLAND 100 — 14:41. DONE.

105km. ~3,000m climbing. 14 hours 41 minutes.

Goal B: Sub 16 ✅
Goal A: Sub 13 ❌

Around 70km I realised sub-13 was officially gone — and I spiralled. Big time.

I took a video in that moment. I’ll share it because I think it’s important to show what these races actually do to you and the lessons they force you to learn. But that’s for another post.

For now — thank you.

Chris & Helen — @northland100ultra Without you, this amazing local event doesn’t happen. What you’ve created is bloody special.

My wife ❤️ — for putting up with all the training and crewing me from the 4am wake-up through to getting home at 10:30pm. Bottles, food, shoe changes, toe tapping — everything. I couldn’t do this without you.

My son — my North Star when it got dark. I wasn’t about to let you down, mate.

Mum, Dad, Emily, Mike, Julie, Rodney, Luca & Darcie — I genuinely don’t know why the fuck you’d come stand in a forest on a Saturday night just to watch me cross a finish line, but seeing you there meant more than I can explain.

Julie… I could hear you from about 3km away

Scott, Callum, Rolf, Dan & Elliot — you boys helped me through different parts of this race. I simply wouldn’t have finished without you.

Matt — your smiling ginger face appeared at Lookout Aid Station exactly when I needed it.

Emma — that last loop hurt, but a crazy woman screaming my name at an aid station definitely helped get me home

I’m proud of 14:41, but there are some big lessons buried in those hours — about expectations, failure, resilience and myself.

For now, I’m going to sit with it, learn from it and recover for the next two weeks.

Then I’ve got an announcement to make about what comes next…

But first —

WE RECOVER.
