Beyond the Studio Lights They first crossed paths in front of the cameras on "What’s My Line?," the long-running TV game show that stood out in the 1950's for regularly hosting women on its celebrity panel. Featuring a celebrity panel playing a witty guessing game in front of a live audience, actress Arlene Francis became one of the show's most popular panelists, admired for her intelligence, charm, and quick wit. In 1961, when Oscar-winning French actress Simone Signoret appeared as the "Mystery Guest," Francis uncovered her identity by only the second round. Here, away from the cameras, Signoret is perched on a sofa, while Francis, visible only in the mirror’s reflection, leans in with interest.
