A few months ago, @manhattanrollie , Jae and I had the idea that since so many friends were going to be in town for Watchtime and while that event was focused on the watches and brands…that we’d get everyone together to just get to spend time with well, people 😂. Last night, we hosted RockTime at Bar 65 and had nearly 60 of our friends and watch family up at the top of 30 Rock for a great dinner. I keep reiterating through this collecting journey that the people are really the movement of this passion, and getting to meet new people who are just as or way more passionate about the watch world (and so many others) was simply an honor. I’m SO happy to have seen you all last night, and I hope everyone had as great a time as I did…and I’m hoping everyone who came found at least one new friend who you’ll end up doing more fun things with, that’s really the point of this all! I can’t thank Geoff and Jae enough, this would never have been possible without them (and for tolerating me through all of this). #rocktime #watchfam

It's a beautiful Sunday morning on the lanai and I'm back to the WOE mug and rattan 😂 are you satisfied @detemporeliber and @uncharted__nomad (haha). 1986 Rolex GMT Master 16750 I find it interesting how each watch crystal reflects and takes the light differently. This one is hard to get a clear shot in the direct sun with all the trees in my backyard, but then the palms look kinda cool in the flecto. If you’re a watch geek like me, you may recall last year’s YouTube video entitled “Splashdown: The Little-Known Story of Navy Frogmen and the Space Program”. Produced by @tudorwatch , this mini-doc introduced the story of the US Navy’s involvement in the capsule and personnel recovery missions undertaken by UDT/SEAL sailors in the 60’s and 70’s. . Tudor recently got the band back together, so to speak, and hosted a panel discussion (moderated by @jackcarrusa and featuring two of the retired commandos from the video) commemorating the exploits of these amazing men. Tudor Subs were important pieces of issued kit back in those days, and the continued connection between the brand and the NSW community was on full display during the discussion. Bob- now a docent at the Navy SEAL Museum- wears his old Tudor Sub on a legit Olongapo cuff, and John has a new production BB54 with an unbelievably cool caseback engraving done for him by @tudorwatch So Cool! (The old guy in the middle is me, and I’m sure that Bob and John would want me to tell you that my question for the panel was by far the best! Lol) Our pal and @spiritoftimepodcast episode alum @cole_pennington holding it down with Jack Carr (future podcast guest, probably) during the panel discussion. Cole knows his stuff- he is seen here walking us through the exact issued references on the wrist of the display mockups. Tudor has provided a number of era-correct watches for these displays. @jestacey - also a past guest- doing his thing and getting solid imagery for @hodinkee Is this @watchesofespionage ‘s personal vintage Tudor Sub? All the awesome content coming from the latest event at the @nsmsandiego got me so pumped, I had to break out the Tudor Subs on this rainy day. 1968 Tudor 7016/0 (I feel fortunate to be the custodian of this piece) and am working on gathering its accurate history. 1979 Tudor 94010 Looking forward to what @watchesofespionage puts together.
