Night Two: Friday, August 14 8pm-1am | Solena Two Southeast Asian neighbors, one purpose. The audiovisual platforms of Cambodia and Phuket combine with two driving forces of their respective scenes: @holusound and @rowansteeleuk . CCR Cambodia Community Radio operates as a decentralized, grassroots online station founded by Myro Bytz and Rowan Steele to shine a light on local talents and help the region's music scene reach a global stage. Broadcasting between Phnom Penh recording sessions overlooking the Mekong and Bassac rivers, to Siem Reap bistros, to beach clubs on Koh Rong island, the platform acts as a vital creative hub that unites local artists with international guests and fosters deeper musical dialogue. The platform serves to bridge local perspectives with broader international audiences by creating accessible pathways for discovery, inspiration, and community-driven storytelling. Through open sessions and collaborative programming, it functions not only as an outlet for alternative music and culture, but also as a dedicated space connecting Cambodia-based creators to the wider world. The Cambodia Community Radio logo blends modern broadcast waves with traditional Khmer typography by placing the literary opening mark ៙ (the "rooster's eye") at its center. Radiating outward, it pairs this symbolic beginning with a jagged waveform that mirrors the closing or boundary mark ៚, representing the continuous transmission of community voices. The concentric arcs forming the letter C simultaneously symbolize expanding radio frequencies, merging ancient literary roots with modern broadcast communication. STILLCA$HRULES Sok Visal is one of the founding figures of Cambodia's contemporary creative industry. Born to Cambodian parents and raised between France and the United States, he was among the first of his generation to return to Cambodia in 1993, in the immediate aftermath of the war, with the conviction that the country's cultural life had to be rebuilt by Cambodians themselves. He founded KlapYaHandz, Cambodia's first hip-hop and alternative music label, drawing on the Golden Age of pre-1975 Khmer music, and 802 Films, one of the Kingdom's first creative film production houses. He is also the founder of Mekong Movies and Stomp Mgt, a music label co-own by key crew of f KlapYaHandz. Before platforms, algorithms and polished broadcast studios, there were people climbing aerials, hacking FM lines, broadcasting from rooftops, truck radios and wherever a signal could travel. Asia’s independent radio scene is stepping into a bigger conversation. Airtime Asia lands in Da Nang and Hội An this August, bringing together radio platforms, artists, broadcasters and cultural figures from across the region. Across four days, the programme moves through live music, panels, workshops and exchanges around independent broadcasting, DJ culture, third spaces and inclusivity in dance music. On the music side, Ken Ishii and Red Pig Flower make their Vietnam debuts, with Red Pig Flower also leading a workshop on gender and inclusivity in dance music.
