We won WUAG’s Battle of the Bands and shall record music ‼️ Alex is also still recovering from a broken wrist and Jose recently broke her collarbone 😟 Thank you so much to everyone who watched us perform and voted for us at WUAGpalooza’s Battle of the Bands. We are also very grateful to @wuag103.1 for hosting WUAGpalooza, as well as @crimsonmoonrecords for giving us the opportunity to record with them as part of our prize for winning! So yes, we shall be recording music at SOME point this year! However, since our rhythm section is mostly out of commission, it will be a few months before we play again, and as such, we will NOT be playing the Den show on 5/24 😔 we still encourage y’all to show out for the other bands, it’s sure to be a swell time 🗣️

In the mid 90’s the C7 gang would sit around the house after school and bother the crazy lady across the street, play hacky sack in the front yard, drink all the Sunny D, and jam on the newest hardcore and metal CDs. There was this amorphous band from NJ with this t-shirt laden mantra “Death to False Metal” that I saw at shows. And us being a bunch of rednecks from Winston-Salem just missed the Deadguy bus by about a year before they broke up. My other band, Swank, did get the chance to play with them, but it was years before my time with them. All that to say. 30 years later and the sleepy enigmatic giant awoke. Decided to flood my newsfeed with promises of a new album. Said album was purchased. They didn’t skip a beat. They announced a tour. And my heart was full. My beautiful fiancé bought me 2 tix for a grad school present and rounded up a posse to go up the mountain. I still have some gas in the tank. I’ve lost my voice and my ears rang me to sleep like I came home from a show in 10th grade. And another justification for my love of the power of punk rock. We ran into Dave from Dragbody and Alex who used to let us sleep on his floor in Gainesville and let us play the first iterations of the Gainesville fests in 98/99. To run into folks you would only see at a metal show from almost 30 years ago is a testament in and of itself. I never got to see Zeppelin. But at least now I can say I saw Deadguy.
