Pappa!!!
All my cousins called him Pappa. He was the only man in this world who truly loved me unconditionally and cared for me in every possible way. He was always there whenever I needed him. My mom would often say that he spoiled me, and maybe she was right. I wish you were here for a little longer. If I had known you were going to leave us so soon, I would never have gone back to Dubai. Life was supposed to include you for so much longer. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things a person can go through. Now I finally understand the pain of everyone who lost their parents at a young age. People often ask me, "Are you okay?" I genuinely don't know how to answer that. Sometimes I wonder how anyone can ask that question when it's my father who passed away. But then I remember that I, too, have asked the same question to friends who lost a parent. Back then, I felt sad for them. Now that I'm living through it, I finally understand how impossible that question really is. People think grief is the hardest part. But grief never really leaves—it stays with us for the rest of our lives. We just learn to live alongside it. What is even harder is accepting that you're truly gone. That's the part I still can't do.
It's knowing you won't be here for Onam to wear your new shirt. You won't be here to scold me whenever I fight with Amma. You won't be here to eat your favourite food. You simply won't be here anymore. That absence is what hurts the most.
For the last two weeks, I was angry with you. I kept asking, "How could you leave us?" I kept thinking that if only you had followed the doctors' instructions, maybe you would still be with us today. But you're not. And somehow, we have to learn to live with your absence. So if you see me, please don't ask me how I'm doing. I'm not okay. I'm just trying, one day at a time, to accept a reality I never wanted. And to everyone who has lost someone they love, I'm truly sorry. I understand your pain in a way I never could before. I pray that God gives all of us the strength to carry this loss, to find peace, and to keep moving forward while holding our loved ones in our hearts forever.

I love you, Pappa. I always will.
