Almost 2 years ago, I stepped away from playing music entirely. Despite all the amazing things that were happening at the time, I’d become jaded by the whole thing. I struggled badly with anxiety, worried too much about how people perceived me and was putting myself under immense pressure over things I couldn’t control.

After a couple years away writing & producing some songs (purely for fun) in a wee flat in the south side of Glasgow, getting a cat (shoutout rubin), getting diagnosed and medicated for ADHD and managing my chronic migraines a bit better - I’ve managed to find my way back, with a completely different perspective on how to approach things in a much healthier way.

Last week, I played my first show as @hellopeoplepleaser in a packed-out room with some of my best friends Johnny, Rosie, Matt, Jamie, Marshall, Cam and Gus by my side. It was my favourite show I’ve played to date.

I then jumped on guitar for Baby Strange headlining Barras that same night, which was truly special. (pictured) My first ever Barras show too. 🥲

I knew I missed playing live, but I didn’t realise how much until I was on stage again. I truly live for this shit. Straight back in at the deep end with 2 shows in 1 day, but couldn’t think of better people to do it with.

Turns out giving so much of your life, time & financial stability to something you’re obsessed with can be very difficult both mentally and physically- but the main thing I’ve learned is that it’s okay to take 👏 a 👏 fucking 👏 break 👏 if things get a bit too much. You can always come back to it when you’re ready. I’d encourage anyone in a similar position to do the same.

I’m in a good place with it again and can proudly say I’ve got the best songs I’ve ever written in my back pocket now too. I’m ready to give this another go and actually fkn enjoy it this time.

Thanks to my friends for helping me find that spark again over the past couple years and still backing me (you know who you are) and to everyone for the support/kind words/messages over the past week 🫂

we met in a car park outside Glasgow & made it to Loch Lomond before the rain hit, from that point it was a case of dancing with the piercing wind & rain, jumping in & out of the van, now working with equipment at varying stages of malfunction, trying to get great shots without getting drenched & frozen...
we did it! the epic wrap around panoramic gatefold album cover... TA are brave & game! (valiantly assisted by Curtis & Stan)

Woaaahhh I really didn't think I'd be up on the @ovohydro stage this year. Thank you @siobhanjmiller for having me in your gorgeous wonderful band, I hold it very dearly :)

New album from Siobhan coming very soon and it's a cracker, it's what I've been excited about for most of this month. And we shall play many more gigs together before the year is out, will tell you all about it soon
