Such a stunning exhibit today for @ladesignweekend at @thomascooperstudio @lusivedecor - I always love the events that Jason and @sallythomascooper host but it was extra special to be asked to exhibit one of my favorite pieces there today. And exhibiting at a lighting company means that you KNOW everything will look effortlessly illuminated. 💡 Such an honor to be sharing this space and time with other @textileartsla folks - @carrieburckle @camerontaylorbrown @anifaye @elisevazelakis @kelsey_overstreet @aprilej_oh - and we learned the exhibit got extended! Artist talk happening Oct 14th! If you love design, you should totally come.

Cameron Taylor-Brown Threads of Time/ Lyon Weavers’ Staircase #1 H 31” W 25” Materials: linen, paper yarns, silk and cotton fabric, wood and paint Techniques: weaving, photographic transfer, embroidery Threads of Time/ Lyon Weavers’ Staircase #4 H 32” W 25” Materials: linen, paper yarns, silk and cotton fabric, wood and paint Techniques: weaving, photographic transfer, embroidery Statement: Threads of Time/ Lyon Weavers’ Staircase is inspired by a former Jacquard weaving live/work building in an old neighborhood of Lyon, France that was a center of silk weaving in times past. When I look at this staircase, I think of weavers and their families that went up and down these stairs, wearing down the stone with their repeated passings. I hear the noise of the looms and feel the vibrations of the weaving process. I think about families using this stairway multiple times a day and hear their voices and footfalls. The work a tribute to the anonymous silk weavers of Lyon. @camerontaylorbrown is featured in California Fibers: The Languages of Fiber at the Huntington Beach Art Center! Congratulations to California Fibers members on being included in the Homo Faber Guide. Homo Faber, a global cultural movement dedicated to celebrating and promoting international contemporary craftsmanship and the diversity of makers, has officially launched in the USA. Of the 212 artists invited across many craft disciplines, only a small fraction are textile based. We’re especially proud that four California Fibers members are among them: Cameron Taylor-Brown, Kathy Knida, Michael F. Rohde, and Annette Heully. Congratulations on this exciting and well deserved recognition. #CaliforniaFibers #HomoFaber #ContemporaryCraft #FiberArt #TextileArt CraftCommunity
