Amble - “Church Bells”.

So many good memories were made while making this one. We spent a beautiful weekend in Enniscrone, Sligo back in September, and were given the run of the place while we were there. We set off fireworks, had dogs in the pub and resurrected the old town nightclub. Thanks to @stevebattle and @kategurrenfilm for all the excellent work pulling all this together, and @ambleofficial for trusting us with this beautiful song.

Back where it all began.

The salt in the air.

The ghosts in the corners.

The familiar hum of a thousand little lives unfolding just beyond the window.

Here we are in Enniscrone just 2 weeks ago, @ambleofficial in @hopkinsenniscrone , our local pub, for the Church Bells video.

The whole town came together to make this one happen.

Old friends, familiar faces, stories spilling into one another.

A little bit of chaos, a lot of laughter, and that beautiful ache of being somewhere that holds a piece of you.

Between the takes, the music and the memories, it all became something more than a video.

Proud of what we made with @elliusgrace and @kategurrenfilm @_coaststudio_ and proud of everyone who made it happen.

Church Bells, made in Enniscrone, with Enniscrone

Hey, Jenny @jenniferatchesondop on Day 2 - Short form

While working as a 2nd AC, as much as I loved it, I started to get that creative itch. While working on large scale productions, I started to get back into shooting short-form creative documentaries and fiction, squeezing shoots into weekends whenever I could. Sometimes that meant doing crazy things like working 19 consecutive days on set... #burnout! I pretty much kept this up until 2020, until I stepped away fully from assisting to concentrate on working as an Operator and DOP.

A big part of my process is spending time with and getting to know the Director. Going on recces, doing camera tests, shot listing, and working through references together. I see my role as trying to get inside the Director's head and bring their vision to life as best as I can. Some people have a really clear idea of what they want, and sometimes I get to use my own creative flair to help fill in the gaps. That's one of the things I love most about the job.

As you can see from some of these behind the scenes images, digital director's viewfinders can be such a useful tool. It's always really satisfying when you look back and see how closely some of those planned shots match the final frame.
