Happy @sydneycontemporary 2026! (+face reveal, I’m the short one) So glad @gracewright08 had some pieces of hers up! Amazing work as usual, the colours were especially beautiful this year. Also saw some more work this year that draws you in and makes you a participant. I’ve tagged the artists I’ve posted but apologies a couple I forgot to write down the artist, there’s two #adriennegaha pieces in this post. Nonetheless I’m very glad I went this year. #australianart #sydneycontemporary #art #painting

Another fab @sydneycontemporary art fair 💫 some amazing talent, beautiful pieces and good humans (like the wonderful Fiona and Carol - last slide - who we were too busy talking to and forgot to take a pic!). The art world - both local and global - is such a sanctuary for me and I’m so grateful to be a teeny tiny part of it 🫶🏼

Sydney Contemporary 2026 did not disappoint.

Carriageworks was full for the fair’s tenth edition, and the standard across the galleries was incredibly high. Plenty of works stopped the team in their tracks with a number of works sourced for our clients homes.

Billy Apple’s iconic statement meets guests on arrival presented as part of installations curated by José Da Silva (Director UNSW Galleries), with the support of NSW Government through Destination NSW.

Nelson Velazquez, Tim Hungerford, Andres Coll Vargas and Martine Merrylees have shared some favourites. A huge congratulations to the team @sydneycontemporary and the galleries and artists involved. Tickets are available online and the fair continues until September 6.

Camie Lyons
Of the earth
3 - 6 September 2026

'This work was made in the place I live closest to the Earth - where salt wind roughens my skin, where the grind keeps me barefoot and honest, where the sea and sky press in.

In my South Coast studio I dig into the raw pulse of things, letting that force tear through me and settle into the bones of my making, in every scorched line, every welded seam, every form dragged into being.

What remains is the energy - caught, shaped and sharpened. These pieces are polished despite their feral beginnings, a rough, tender tribute to nature in all her fragile, devastation beauty.'
