I’ve been to quite a few concerts this year, including Franz Ferdinand and The Libertines. But even looking back at all the concerts I’ve attended over the years, I genuinely think @thesubways delivered the best showmanship and storytelling I’ve experienced so far.

And that’s quite a statement!

What made this evening so special wasn’t just the music itself. It was the incredible energy, the atmosphere and, most importantly, the connection between the band and the audience.

The stories they shared between songs, the way the lead singer @billylunn occasionally spoke German to the audience, the genuine appreciation they showed for the crowd and even the incorporation of German lyrics into their songs made the whole experience feel incredibly personal.

Their stage presence was fantastic. Constant movement, plenty of interaction and even a moment when the lead singer jumped into the audience and went crowdsurfing!

Sure, some of their movements and stage routines felt a little repetitive at times, but that hardly took away from the experience.

What impressed me most was that their enthusiasm never felt forced. They genuinely seemed to enjoy being there just as much as we enjoyed watching them.

And somehow, the evening got even better afterwards.

I had the opportunity to meet the band, have a little conversation, take a photo together and pick up a signed, limited-edition marble vinyl of When I’m With You.

As someone who’s currently working towards a future in the music industry myself, meeting a band whose music I’ve known and enjoyed for years was a particularly special experience.

I actually spotted them after the show and took my time before approaching them. I wasn’t particularly nervous about going up to them. I simply wanted to tell them how much I had enjoyed their performance.

Funny enough, the nerves only kicked in once I was actually talking to them! 😅

But I’m genuinely glad I took the opportunity. Being able to personally express my appreciation made an already memorable evening even more special.

An incredible performance, a wonderful atmosphere and a night I’ll certainly remember.

Thank you, The Subways! ❤️
