The Allies: Episode 3 “Relocating Your Purpose”

No one really talks about how hard relocating for work can be. For me, it has hit even deeper because this is the first time I’ve been back in Charlotte for a long period of time since I left for college in 2023.

Over the years, I’ve missed birthdays, holidays, family moments, and even had to navigate the pain of losing important people while being away from home. There were plenty of times I felt like I was missing out on milestones I should have been present for, but my family always understood the bigger picture and the purpose behind the sacrifice.

I say all of that to say: being away from home can be exciting, but never forget your roots. Never forget the people, places, and experiences that shaped you. At the same time, never be afraid to step away, spread your wings, and grow into who you are called to become.

Because when you finally land back in the place where it all started, you will feel the growth, see the impact, and understand that every sacrifice was preparing you to leave behind an even greater legacy.

From competitive college campuses to one unified corporate office.

It’s easy to tell students to “go to college,” but what you do once you get there is what truly matters. Seeking guidance, finding mentorship, attending career fairs, joining ambassadorships, building your resume, and taking advantage of every opportunity is only the beginning.

But never forget to network with the person right beside you, because you never know where they will be one day.

Five different universities. Five different backgrounds. One goal in mind: TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

“Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.” – Madam C.J. Walker
Out of 400 applications, I was blessed to be selected as 1 of only 50 participants in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Ally Moguls in the Making Competition, where we focused on creating innovative solutions to improve economic mobility in Detroit. To place 1st alongside my phenomenal teammates was a dream come true and a testament to what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
I’m even more grateful to have had the opportunity to share our journey on national TV and highlight the importance of giving HBCU students a platform to be seen, heard, and celebrated! I’m so proud to represent Spelman College and show the power of HBCU excellence on such a big stage! Thank you to @ally, @tmcf_hbcu, and the @jenniferhudsonshow for making this all possible. This is just the beginning, and I’m ready to keep pushing for meaningful change!
