So my friends and I are playing a little stitching game to go along with the new season of Dancing with the Stars! ✨🪩

Here are the rules I’m going to be following as the show goes, but feel free to modify them if you want to stitch along! I’m assigning one WIP to each couple and then I’ll be doing stitches on that project according to how the episode shakes out.

My special version of Fancy Antsy Picnic. Dedicated to my Grandma Sue, I added to the corner my late Grandfathers initials over 1. I changed some stitches to Algerian eyelets to give that embroidered handkerchief look. I also made my small row of ants out of beads. I love how this pattern came together.

This my be my favorite finish ever. The piece fits perfectly in a little cutting board tray which fits perfectly on the arm of the sofa which all fits me perfectly. 👌
I think this was one of those charts that I bought on the same day it was released; I just love it so much. The bowl of teeth? The bird? The scissors and needle? The stinkbugs? The dogwoods growing out the tub? The Victorian house? Stop, @camthestitcher It’s just perfect. For fun, I added the hint of a ghost in the top window. 👻

I made a few changes with fabric and floss, but the called-for is stunning.
For my finish, I covered 2 pieces of thick cardboard/thin particle board in batting. The bottom one, I covered in fabric. The top one, I began building up layers of scrap batting and pillow filling then wrapped and laced the linen over top, stuffing and shaping as I went. I used a ladder stitch to connect them together (please ignore the stray thread tail poking out in the video!).
I love framing pieces, but the quilter in me always loves it when I can finish a stitched piece as a functional object.

It’s been a week and I think I’ve finally come down off the Stitch North 2026 high! I had so much fun, rekindled my stitchy bug, and got my fix of Canadian snacks (coffee crisps are the BEST) 🇨🇦🪡
