Whop has secured $200 million in Series D funding, reaching a $5.1 billion valuation as it continues to expand its position in the global creator economy.

Founded by Steven Schwartz and Cameron Zoub, Whop is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The $200 million Series D was led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures, with backing from prominent investors across technology and venture capital.

Whop is building an all-in-one platform where anyone can create and run a business, from websites and ads to payments, with a mission to deliver everyone a sustainable income. Founded by teenage entrepreneurs Cameron Zoub and Steven Schwartz, Whop grew from selling sneaker bots to building a platform for entrepreneurs worldwide. At one point, the team consisted of 10 people living in a single apartment, and Cameron even slept in a closet while building the company.

Now, Whop has raised $200M in Series D funding at a $5.1B valuation, backed by Sequoia and Shopify. @whop was founded in March 2021 in Brooklyn by Steven Schwartz @sese, Cameron Zoub @camzoub and Jack Sharkey @jacksharkey who first met as teens building sneaker bots.

The platform grew into an all-in-one marketplace for courses, communities, software and digital products. It now supports tens of millions of users, over 100,000 sellers and multi-billion annual GMV, with average creators earning about $8,413 monthly.

The company runs lean with roughly 120-180 employees and reached a $1.6 billion valuation. In 2025 @imangadzhi joined as co-owner and strategic partner, integrating his products and supporting further growth.

I recently sat down with Steven Schwartz (@sese), CEO of @Whop, to talk about their journey up until today and what the future holds for the company.

They’ve evolved from sneaker bots to education products, to introducing clipping to the world, to helping people make money in the most effective ways on the internet.
