So that’s the final Notes: The Comedy B-Sides!!!!

The last show was a washout - 3 fire alarms during the show, bar run dry and Stephen Gordon losing his mind but that’s the fringe!

I’ll do a propa round up post soon but Wowee what a fringe!

Edinburgh might have taken my suit, but it will never take my resilience. And through the power of friendship and diet Irn-Bru, I have survived the entire month.

I'm always struck by how much more social this city is. I connected with so many more strangers than I usually would have and it gave me the confidence to approach people and strike up conversations. For the most part, people are nice it turns out.

It was not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but having @candacebryan stopped me sinking. I treasured every night we did Honkers and can't wait to show you all what we've cooked up (and show you the amazing photos we got from @jackdkirby)

I'm also happy with the direction of my show and now want to put in the effort to make it seen far and wide for my debut.

I saw a lot, I learnt a lot and am rising from the ashes stronger than ALL OF YOU 😤

(Thank you everyone that came and saw the show and hung out with me you were the best 🥺)

Candace Bryan’s Don’t Be Ridiculous, Everybody Wants This is a smart, relaxed hour about the contradictions between leftist ideals and our irresistible urge to buy stuff.

From Britney Spears and bisexuality to America vs Greece, Melania, Iran, BlackRock and her communist dad, Bryan covers a surprising amount of ground while keeping everything conversational and accessible. She particularly understands how to play to a UK audience, with some wonderfully sharp transatlantic observations.

My favourite section involved her reading online reviews of toilet brushes. The minute she started talking about reviews, I was obsessed — ridiculous, relatable and exactly the sort of internet rabbit hole I understand. Well I would. And I have a toilet brush she mentions.

Bryan has the easy confidence of a lounge-style comedian: politically engaged, dryly funny and effortlessly good company. She’s simply a very cool person to spend an hour with ❤️
