A LOOK BACK AT LE SALON D’ÉTÉ

Last August, LA DÉRIVE brought together Chloe Latour of Community Service and Sophie Dixon + Kioni Sasaki-Picou of SUKO Magazine for the first edition of Le Salon d’été in Montréal, at @cafecivil.ca

Taking the historical salon as a starting point, the conversation explored community within independent cultural projects and their role in creating new spaces for culture.

Together, we discussed Montréal’s DIY and independent scene, accessibility and representation, and how to create spaces where people feel welcome not only to enter, but to participate.

We also turned these questions to the room: What has your creative community given you? Which cultural spaces matter to you? What kinds of spaces do you wish existed?

The answers became part of the conversation : reflecting on the communities we build, the spaces we inhabit, and those we have yet to create.

Thank you to everyone who joined, contributed and shared.

Le Salon continues. Stay tuned.

LA DÉRIVE : UNE NOUVELLE VAGUE

for our first community gathering, we completed a collective portrait of montreal through these 3 questions :

i. introduce yourself and your creative link (public, worker, creator)

ii. what excites you most about montreal's creative scene right now ?

iii. in this spirit, what does "Nouvelle Vague" inspire you?

thank you to everyone who took part

enjoy
