When I first worked with Skyro @skyro.diary he was having significant difficulty using his hindquarters and needed support for movement.

During our first @movementmarkers Canine Kinaesthetics™ session, he was also unfamiliar with the work and initially reacted to being touched.

By the second session, there was already a noticeable change. He was calmer, more receptive to the work, and beginning to support his hindquarters and take steps independently.

Now, one week after that second session, his owner has shared another encouraging update.
Skyro is standing and walking for longer periods on his own, using both hind legs to support himself.
She has also noticed him trying to remain standing while toileting, And he even managed to climb onto a beanbag and the sofa.

He is still not moving normally and there is more work ahead, but these changes in his everyday function are meaningful. Seeing him actively use his hindquarters and maintain his balance. And choose to move this way on his own is really encouraging.

Canine Kinaesthetics™ is not about claiming to cure the underlying condition. For me, the value is in supporting functional movement.

Very happy to see Skyro making this kind of progress.

During the recent @canineprofessionals conference that i have attended in Newport Beach, CA and one of the most significant key-point take away is this:

i do not think Competent Dog Training is removing all of life's difficult parts for the dog. Life is hard sometimes. It includes frustration and pressure, and choices that don't always feel good.

Humans and dogs think differently, but both learn from consequences in this one Life, same Reality. I do not see the purpose to training a dog is to build a compliant dog.
we are building a dog that can actually function in the real-world, able to tolerate friction and still choose well.

That is not removing Adversity, it is preparing for it. The hardship isn't random, it's not careless. It is carefully Measured to suit that specific dog in front of you to be successful.
And our job is to keep the whole experience fair and clear. Agency with Guardrails.

Somewhere in there, Resilience is built. That does not mean you deliberately make life hard, but it does mean not pretending the hard parts don't exist. Comfort matters, and so does Adversity.

So for me, this is not about control for the dog's own sake. This is Capacity for life, even when life has a rough edge.

The work is in knowing how much of each, when, and for the dog in front of you and it's Owner, understanding the history, they're unique environment, unique situation, etc, to be successful because dogs don't come in just One Size Emotionally.
Dog training can't Either.

If you need me this week, I’ll be soaking up every drop of canine education, co-regulation, and pack energy at my first IACP Conference! 🎓✨

A quick look at the journey so far:

✈️ Navigating travel days with the absolute best four-legged copilot

🏨 Pre-conference check-in, Canine Summit and settling into our groove

🐕 Mowgli showing up with solid down-stays, calm focus, and melting hearts in every hallway

🧠 Brains full of new training insights, nervous systems grounded, and hearts overflowing

🌿 So grateful to be learning and growing alongside our amazing #acanineexperience family!

Traveling and attending big events like this used to feel entirely out of reach. Seeing how far our partnership and nervous system capacity have come is the ultimate full-circle moment. 🥹

Which slide is your favorite? (Slide 5 of Mowgli is definitely mine! 🐶)

What’s your most controversial opinion as a dog trainer?

Time to get to work! 🇧🇪

So grateful we got to meet so many K9 professionals this week at @hitsk9conference in Phoenix. We can’t wait to apply our new learning and connections to every dog in our #shelterdog to #workingk9 program. 🙌
