“Where I Wanna Be” is widely considered Donell Jones’ magnum opus. Though it was his first—and only—platinum album, it was somewhat overshadowed by the blockbuster success of his LaFace label mates, including Usher, Toni Braxton, OutKast, and TLC. Over the years, however, the album has become a cult favorite, celebrated for its cohesion and seamless flow from one track to the next. L.A. Reid, co-founder of LaFace, recently named it his favorite album released by the label, choosing it over juggernauts like TLC’s “CrazySexyCool,” OutKast’s “Stankonia,” Usher’s “Confessions,” and Toni Braxton’s self-titled debut. That kind of co-sign speaks volumes.

Honored to be featured in @essence speaking on two icons who helped shape the soundtrack of our lives — Brandy & Monica.

This isn’t just nostalgia… it’s legacy.
Real R&B never fades, it evolves.

From The Boy Is Mine to today, their impact is still being felt across generations — and I’m grateful to add my voice to that conversation.

What’s your favorite Brandy or Monica record? 🎶👇🏾 @blkbabybliss19 Thank you for including me in this conversation.
