Built in 1903, the Marshall School served as an elementary school until 1976. In 1983 it was renovated for use as an adult education center, and finally a Montessori school until its closure in 2009. It has sat abandoned since. There are now plans in the works to turn it into a 36-unit residential complex, with an additional 24 condo units being built adjacent to the school building.

Thank you @riaskommission for allowing me to explore Germany in a way I wouldn’t be able to otherwise. I became exposed to the history, culture, politics and media landscape of this country, but I also made personal connections that will last a lifetime.

We are excited to introduce our ERP American journalism students! These eleven students spent their first week in Berlin visiting Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio, the Bundestag and Tempelhof Airport among other visits. Their three-week program includes discussions on journalism, politics and transatlantic relationships with students at Free University Berlin, University of Erfurt, Leipzig University, University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal, Axel Springer Journalism Academy and Hamburg University for Applied Sciences. The group is finishing up a dynamic and insightful weeklong visit to Dresden, Erfurt, Eisenach, Leipzig and Chemnitz, the European Cultural Capital 2025. Next week, the group heads to Magdeburg, Hamburg and back to Berlin to continue learning about the history of broadcast media during the Cold War, visiting newsrooms and engaging in political discussions.
