Look up at Birdwood Residence and you'll find timber.

Our Trendplank cladding lines the underside of the roof and balconies, Blackbutt timber finished in WOCA White so it stays light and soft next to the concrete and stone.

West Residences, Mount Lawley — Complete ✨

What began as an ambitious idea for a prominent corner in Mount Lawley has now become an iconic addition to the Perth city skyline.

From its distinctive Flatiron-inspired form and seven levels of brickwork, to the considered interiors and finer details throughout, every element has been carefully resolved over years of design and construction.

A project shaped by vision, design and craftsmanship, and built to endure.

Willing was honoured with two awards for West Residences at the 2026 UDIA WA Awards for Excellence:

🏆 Apartments (Mid-Rise)
🏆 Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence — the prestigious overall award, recognising the best project across all category winners.

We went for a walk through at the West Residences this weekend and loved seeing this one up close.

Inspired by New York’s iconic Flatiron Building, it’s a pretty wild building to see sitting in the middle of Mount Lawley.

There’s so much character: strong material choices, the brickwork, colour, curves, metalwork and all the detailing that carries from the architecture through to the interiors.

As carpenters, we’re always drawn to the details that are harder to execute. The ones that require a bit more thought, coordination and skill to get right. There are plenty of examples of that here.

Very cool to see a project of this calibre completed here in Perth. Beautiful work by everyone involved.

Reposting @richardhassellart:

I managed to get back to our project Forbes Residences @woha_architects with @mjastudio for Mustera in Applecross in Perth, Western Australia to check out the landscaping after a year - it’s going gangbusters!

Many people say our green architecture is all well and good in Singapore but won’t work in other places.

Landscape designers @capa_studio did a fantastic job selecting species for the sky gardens. Perth has a mediterranean climate, low humidity and high winds, and harsh sunlight with high UV. Capa shows here integrated greenery can be successfully done in every climate with the correct horticultural selections. Wonderful to see it maturing and full of bees, butterflies and birds! 🦅💚💚💚

You can even stay there amongst the gardens @manaaliving

Here’s what we have been up to in the first quarter of 2026! 🐝

Our guys have been busy across the board - working from Mandurah to Ocean Reef along the West coast, out to Wattle Grove and everywhere in-between.
A solid run of Microcement, Venetian Plasters and Painted Finishes in both residential and commercial projects - a good start to the year with some awesome clients and locations.

Excited to see what’s in store for the second quarter!

West Residences is nearing completion, with Perth’s first Flatiron-inspired address about to reveal its striking final form on West Parade.
Bold in silhouette yet refined in detail, this architecturally distinctive building has been carefully crafted to stand the test of time — a landmark defined by generous proportions, elevated finishes and sweeping city, river and district views across Mount Lawley’s leafy streetscape.
Delivered by Willing Build, our integrated construction division, West Residences benefits from complete alignment between developer and builder. This ensures uncompromising quality control, program certainty and a seamless journey from vision to reality — a rare advantage in today’s market.
In the coming months, we look forward to welcoming a vibrant community of residents to experience generous, beautifully proportioned homes, sweeping views and the unmistakable Mount Lawley lifestyle.
