ORIGENS DA CAPOEIRA — NOVEMBER 20, 2026 From Africa to Brazil. From oppression to resistance. From prohibition to liberation. From the streets to academies around the world. Origens da Capoeira returns to the stage for a 90-minute theatrical journey through the history, struggle, culture and evolution of Capoeira. Through theatre, movement, music and Capoeira, we travel back to the roots of the art and follow its journey across generations. This year’s performance carries an even deeper meaning. On November 20 — Dia de Zumbi & Dia da Consciência Negra, the story comes full circle as the evening culminates in the Formatura of Mestrando Paraíba to Mestre — the recognition of a lifetime dedicated to Capoeira, teaching, community and the formation of future generations. A night of history. A night of culture. A once-in-a-lifetime moment. NOVEMBER 20, 2026 More details & tickets coming soon. The show is part of our 4-Day Batizado & Formatura Weekend — November 19–22: THURSDAY — Opening Roda & Bate-Papo Kick off the weekend with a short opening roda, Q&A with our guests, photos, conversation, light snacks and a chance to connect before the main events begin. FRIDAY — Origens da Capoeira + Mestre Formatura Our theatrical journey from Africa to Brazil, followed by the once-in-a-lifetime Formatura of Mestrando Paraíba to Mestre. SATURDAY — Batizado & Troca de Corda Our annual belt ceremony, where students are welcomed into Capoeira or recognized for their progression to their next corda. SATURDAY & SUNDAY — Workshops & Rodas Special workshops, training sessions and rodas led by invited Mestres and guests throughout the weekend. November 19–22, 2026 Four days of Capoeira, history, culture and celebration.

**correction: November 20th, 2026. ** Where do i start..... Capoeira has been a constant part of my life since i was 12 years old. No breaks, no plan B. From an early age, i knew this was what i wanted for the rest of my life. There are so many people to thank, so many great moments and some not so great. It all has shaped me into the man i am today. I've worked hard, and have had the help of MANY people... but have also had luck along the way. Luck for having people around me who pushed me, people who supported me, and even the bad moments that fortified my burning desire to succeed in the thing i love to do the most. In 2019 I started Team Capoeira Bamba. As such, it meant embarking on a journey where i have no-one to guide and mentor me. I trusted my guts and persisted. My Mestre Barrao taught me to believe in Capoeira, to always put it first. In this new chapter in my life, i met Mestre Pinga-Fogo who i chose to be my Padrinho. I saw in him something that was missing in my life: prioritizing family and friendships. The nomination to a MESTRE tittle was hard for me to accept and It's been a few years that I hear it from different Mestres. Although i still feel like a child in this art, I established THREE prerequesits before accepting my nomination to Mestre: 1 - 30 Years of Capoeira 2- 40 Years of age 3- my peers who held the same belt would have to graduate first. And so, the time is finally here. As such, I vow to always hold Capoeira in the highest regard, to honor those who came before me, and to carry its name with humility, integrity, and respect for the rest of my life. Salve Capoeira! We are beyond excited to share some very special news with you. Our academy will be hosting its very first Batizado (Belt Ceremony) this fall! This marks a huge milestone for us and will be one of the most meaningful chapters in our school’s journey. Although Professor Pulga (Mike S.) has been running the school for over 18 years and we’ve celebrated many amazing events, this Batizado will hold a unique and unforgettable place in our history.
