BATMAN (JUSTICE LEAGUE) DELUXE GOLD LABEL @gamestop EXCLUSIVE by @mcfarlane_toys_official

McFarlane’s now dropped five Justice League Ben Affleck Batman figures before this, and with the new 2026 Gold Label exclusive, we’re officially at number six. Six? Yep, six.

Before we jump into the review, quick rundown of the figures. First up is the 2021 Zack Snyder’s Justice League Batman with the goggles over his eyes. Then you’ve got the Platinum Chase, same deal but with the goggles sculpted off his eyes and up on the forehead. Third was the Entertainment Earth unmasked variant — the one with a head sculpt that looked nothing like Affleck. Fourth came in the Ultimate Movie Collection set which featured a cloth cape. Fifth came from last year’s JL Batmobile crowdfunding campaign, featuring a clean, no‑goggles Affleck Batman masked head. And now we’re at release number six. Got that??

This new GameStop exclusive basically mashes together four of those earlier releases, but now with a much better, more Affleck‑looking head sculpt. It’s not perfect, but yeah squint a little and you can definitely see Ben in there, dare I say it almost 100% better than the original. You also get the two alternate heads: goggles‑down and goggles‑up on the forehead. Plus, this set gives us the Batarang and grapnel launcher that originally only came with the unmasked version. Combine all of that and include a cloth cape, and voilà a new exclusive version was born.

The bonus here, aside from it being a Gold Label exclusive is the newly sculpted unmasked Affleck head. Anyone who remembers that awful old head sculpt will be relieved to see this upgrade. The body itself hasn’t changed at all; it’s the same figure we’ve gotten five times now. But honestly, that’s not a bad thing, the tactical suit sculpt still looks great and captures his look from the end of the movie.

GameStop sold out at first but has since restocked online, so if you skipped the previous five releases, this is the one to grab. It basically covers everything you’d want from the others, and honestly, he’s worth picking up.

DOCTOR MID-NITE (JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA) PLATINUM MCFARLANE COLLECTOR EDITION by @mcfarlane_toys_official

This figure arrives as part of the Platinum McFarlane Collector Edition series, but honestly, the paint app to make it a Platinum is so small that it doesn’t feel like it is.

The sculpting is top‑tier, and the outfit stays remarkably faithful to his comic design. The only real changes between the standard release and this Platinum version are the updated paint apps on the boots, gloves, cape, and the lenses on his goggles. Hooty also gets a darker brown paint swap. The main parts, legs, torso, and head are all painted the same between them both.

It’s a great figure, but a stronger color shift—or even a new head sculpt—would’ve really helped it stand out as a true Platinum release.

Shout out to @mcfarlane_toys_official for sending me this to review.

WONDER WOMAN (CLASSIC) PATINA EDITION GOLD LABEL - @walmart SHARED EXCLUSIVE by @mcfarlane_toys_official

The McFarlane Wonder Woman (Classic) Patina Edition Gold Label is a must need for variant hunters, made even better by being based on one of McFarlane’s best Wonder Woman figures to date.

The highlight here of course is the exclusive patina paint job, giving the figure a refined bronze‑statue look making it a standout display piece. This is the 7th DC Multiverse figure to get this treatment and In my opinion probably one of the best.

Now, of course, this patina deco series of figures is not everyone’s cup of tea but I love them as they look statues rather than action figures. This figure is a Gold Label, limited to only 5,250 pieces with each one individually numbered, making it that more of a collectible item. It was offered as a shared exclusive between Walmart and McFarlane Toys Store and is available at Walmart now despite it being sold out when it first dropped several months ago.

Special thanks to @mcfarlane_toys_official For sending me this review and present to you!

COMMANDO PENGUINS (BATMAN RETURNS) (DELUXE THEATRICAL EDITION) by @mcfarlane_toys_official

The most sought‑after set in McFarlane Toys’ Batman Returns line may function more as display pieces than full figures, but that doesn’t take away from how pretty damn cool these Commando Penguins turned out.

The sculpts and paint, with those metallic rocket finishes in particular, earn points for nailing the Batman Returns look and feel of the end battle scene from the movie. This was the obvious choice for an army builder. The added bonus of the Penguins cloth goods cape truly completed the feel of the movies scene.

If you went in thinking, these were actual figures, you might be a bit disappointed as only one of the penguins (the larger of the three) has flippers that can move up and down and slight side to side head movement, but that shouldn’t deter you from tracking this set down for your collection. This exclusive set sold out instantly on McFarlane’s Toys Store online however collectible toy sites online were able to get extras to sell. I was fortunate to get my first set from McFarlane while the second one came from @popcultcha . Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection if you can

ATOM SMASHER VS. THE SPECTRE (JSA: BLACK VENGEANCE) 2PK - THE SPECTRE by @mcfarlane_toys_official

While The Spectre figure appeals to those who missed its earlier Crisis on Infinite Earths run, certain collectors express mild disappointment with the current version.

The cape truly is the star of this figure, flowing with impressive length and enhanced by wired edges that open up endless posing possibilities, however, it’s the hood that doesn’t feel like it’s on the same level. Its fit can appear awkward, and without wiring, the connection feels less refined compared to the standout cape. It either slides too much over the face and looks odd when you pull it back off the head. I just wish it was a little bit more fitted or even wired.

The most common criticism I’ve read across the net was the initial price point of $80, with many collectors feeling it was steep considering the absence of additional accessories beyond the standard art cards and display stands. For most JLA fans, the addition of two more members makes for an even more compelling action figure display.

It’s based on their clash from the comics—‘Day of Vengeance’ and the follow-up ‘Black Vengeance’ arc.

ATOM SMASHER VS. THE SPECTRE (JSA: BLACK VENGEANCE) 2PK - ATOM SMASHER- by @mcfarlane_toys_official

This 2-Pack totally captures that comic vibe—Atom Smasher looks bulkier, rocking the new bare arms and a head sculpt that’s miles better than his first Black Adam figure. Definitely feels like a solid upgrade.

When I found out Atom Smasher was coming back in a two-pack with the Spectre, I was pretty hyped. I love a thing JSA! It’s based on their clash from the comics “Day of Vengeance” and the follow-up “Black Vengeance” story arc. The figure itself is basically modeled after the movie version we got a few years ago but happy to see it was made more JSA comic accurate this time.

This set came with nothing but the Spectre, the standard figure stands and collector cards but no extras at all and it launched at a steep $80, which definitely rubbed a lot of collectors the wrong way. The real draw here is the Spectre himself, since plenty of fans missed out on him the first time. Tomorrow, we’ll dive into the Spectre.

HARLEY QUINN & THE JOKER (MAD LOVE) 2-PACK GOLD LABEL - HARLEY QUINN for @dcdirect by @mcfarlane_toys_official

These sculpts nail the Bruce Timm look of the cartoon and make awesome display pieces for any BTAS fan, but for as beautiful as these will be on your shelf or display, there are a few setbacks to this set.

To begin with, these figures are essentially reissues of earlier DC Direct BTAS releases, and the original sculpts remain perfectly suitable for reuse, however Harley’s physique may come across as a bit too petite for some collectors, mainly because the limbs feel fragile, almost like they might snap. Add in the tiny swap-out hands and small feet, and she becomes tricky to balance on display. In fact, neither come with any kind of figure stand.

She pairs perfectly with the Animated Joker from this set and aside from her frail sculpt, this set is a must have. You can still find this set on Amazon and Walmart online if your Batman The Animated Series collection is needing a little Mad Love

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES - ROBIN 1/6 SCALE FIGURE - SDCC 2025 LIMITED EDITION by @mondonews

At SDCC 2025 this year Mondo rolled out another exclusive, the Batman: The Animated Series Robin in 1/6 scale. This fully articulated Dick Grayson figure stands 11” tall and looks like he leapt straight from the cartoon. Packed with detail, it’s a release that’s ready to steal the spotlight and finally completes my Dynamic Duo display.

Robin comes with a stash of accessories and swappable parts, including five head sculpts — one being an exclusive unmasked version. His release is loaded with extras—two swappable capes and six sets of hands to nail any pose. The real highlight, though, is the nod to Batman: The Animated Series, bringing episode‑specific gear like the Throwing Fish, Hedge Trimmers, a Bat Bomb, and the iconic R‑shaped batarang. Of course he to comes armed with his trademark grapple hooks and batarangs, ensuring plenty of classic poses.

Speaking of posing, it has been pointed out that there were articulation issues and I would have to agree. One of the capes gets in the way of shoulder movement, so posing can be tricky. The lack of double‑jointed elbows really hurts dramatic posing. Robin’s supposed to be agile, but the figure doesn’t really let him show it well.

These are minor issues however but the huge load of accessories make up for that. Pre-orders done during SDCC 2025 this past summer are now shipping and as of this posting, he is still available on the Mondo website for purchase. If you know Mondo, then you know the price tag on these, but I believe it is worth every penny.

SUPERMAN THE MOVIE RETRO LINE SUPERMAN @target EXCLUSIVE by @spinmaster

Collectors are gonna eat this one up—it’s got that authentic vibe that hits right in the nostalgia. The sculpt nails the classic look, and the packaging doubles down with vintage flair. All of it comes together as part of the 2025 Superman: The Movie retro line, making it a throwback release that feels both fun and true to its roots.

Superman played by the late Christopher Reeve is one of the 6 in this line and features the kryptonite chain necklace they put on him so that he couldn’t stop Lex’s plans. While the likeness is minimal, this figure perfectly captures the spirit of how it would’ve looked in the 70s. There are three more figures to this set, Lois lane and two variant Jor-El sculpts I hope to share with you all soon.
