POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
For his graduate collection at London College of Fashion, Zhengyuan Lin (Yuan) @linlinlinzhengyuan traces four generations of Chinese history through his own family's memories Echoes of Tomorrow draws on stories from his grandparents, from being sent to Hainan Island to a group of classmates who tried to walk all the way to Beijing. It ends in a hand-built leather globe set into a Zhongshan suit, which took almost two weeks to make. Rather than a harmonious "East meets West," Yuan is interested in collision: old and new systems of value existing side by side without resolving their contradictions. /AN INDELIBLE THICKET/ My graduation project. As a typical small-town youngster who grew up in a small town, I repeatedly wander between cities and towns. Towns in China are transitional zones in the process of urbanization, like shrubs. The wild shrubs in my hometown are wild and unrestrained, but they are neatly trimmed in the green belts of big cities. In big cities, we also use bizarre costumes to promote ourselves as our own group, forming a clear boundary with urbanites. The transitional zone means temporary, I want it to exist forever, and the bushes cannot disappear.
