forever grateful to the organizations, communities, mentors, and experiences that made rutgers feel like home. i poured so much into these spaces, and they poured back into me. every accomplishment on this list came from dedication, discipline, resilience, and trusting God through every season. these achievements were earned, not handed. 🤝🏾

(Part 1) | Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

these 4 years have truly flown by, and i’m proud to stand here today as part of the 23-25% of Black men holding a bachelor’s degree in the U.S. the journey to getting this degree was not easy. there were moments of doubt, late nights, exhaustion, tears, challenges, and times where i thought it was impossible and wanted to give up. but through God, the support of family and friends, and countless prayers, i kept going. i persevered. i fought through every obstacle that came my way. as a Ghanaian student, earning this degree carries generations of sacrifice, prayers, and hard work behind it.

almost 4 years ago, i stepped onto the campus of rutgers as a scared, nervous, and confused freshman, with no idea what i wanted to do with my life. i didn’t know who i would become, who i would meet, or what this journey would teach me. i came into college unsure of my path, and i’m leaving with memories, lifelong friendships, lessons that will stay with me forever, and a degree that represents years of hard work, sacrifice, and growth.

everyone i met throughout this journey helped shape my experience in one way or another. i’m grateful for the people who supported me, checked in on me, pushed me to be better, made me laugh during difficult moments, and reminded me why i started in the first place. the love and support i received throughout these 4 years will never be forgotten. this degree is for my family, especially my mom, dad 🕊️, sister, and everyone who believed in me when i struggled to believe in myself.

rutgers, thank you for the memories, opportunities, lessons, and people that helped shape me into the person i am today. while i’m sad about this chapter of my life ending, this is truly only the beginning.

with that being said…
