Estimated to have been built in 1st Century BC, this architectural wonder was established as a Buddhist monastic site in 2nd century BC and stands tall at 74.98 meters to this day.
It’s in the Sri Lankan ancient town of Anuradhapura, a place you must visit if you ever happen to travel to Sri Lanka.

As a tribute to those who still maintain and protect these sites, it is my entry for today’s pops.

As dusk falls over Varanasi, the storm brews quietly in the skies above, but on the ghats below, a different storm kindles—a storm of devotion, silence, and ancient fire.

Five sadhus sit close to the water, their weathered hands cradling flickering diyas—small flames offered not just to the Ganga, but to the very essence of life itself. They are not just lighting lamps; they are igniting prayers, illuminating memories, and honoring ancestors who once walked these sacred stones.

Each flame whispers a different story.

One for forgiveness.
One for liberation.
One for clarity.
One for peace.
And one—perhaps—for hope.

But away from the gathering, sits another figure—solitary, yet deeply connected. With a chillum in hand and time carved into every line of his face, he stares into the horizon. He does not light a lamp; he is the lamp. His silence speaks of lifetimes, of wandering, of watching cities rise and empires fall—yet here, the river flows on, and so does he.

Above them, lightning streaks the heavens like a divine signature—a reminder that even in darkness, light has a way of finding its place.

This isn’t just a moment.
This is Kashi breathing.
This is time pausing to listen...

Wind in the jacket, sunset on cue, and Two Jack Lake putting on a quiet show with hardly a cloud to distract it. Nikon locked in, NiSi doing their thing, and me patiently waiting for that glow to peak 😄 If Canada in October 2027 sounds like your idea of fun, join me with a photographer guide and let’s chase a few sunsets sunrises together — message me for the details.Places we will be going Whistler Vancouver and Canadian Rockies -Banff Canmore Jasper Lake Louise to name a few places
