✨That’s a wrap on the 2026 SOHP Art & Oral History Incubator ✨

Over the past five days, our artists-in-residence gathered at the Love House to engage oral histories, archives, memory, and creative practice in powerful and inspiring ways. Through conversation, collaboration, and deep listening, this cohort explored how storytelling can shape new artistic possibilities and strengthen community connections.

🎤📚🎨Thank you to our incredible artists, collaborators, students, faculty, and staff for making this inaugural incubator such a meaningful experience. We’re excited to see how these projects continue to grow beyond this week. 🎤📚🎨

Thank you so much for your appreciation of #TheMoth, @carasmelter and @thepugwalle! via @thepugwalle: WALL-E is deaf, but that absolutely does not mean he doesn’t love being read a story! WALL-E feels and responds to the vibrations of our chest when we speak, and the good stories and vibes we envelope him in, with our voices.

WALL-E’s newest favorite storytime book is “The Moth” by impeccable artist and writer @chrismusina 🤍🌕 “A wayward moth embarks on a quiet journey in search of the moon. The Moth is a charming, melancholic, Sisyphean, and yet hopeful tale written and illustrated by artist Chris Musina.” You can purchase a copy of this incredible book for your pups, kiddos, yourself at @daniel13_nc press! Support local and expand your bookshelf (or the bookshelf of someone you love)with a tender story that made us both smile and cry. 🌕🤍🌑

And follow @chrismusina @_nomasters_ for quality animal art content that makes you feel ALL the feels.

It’s Saturday, put your feet up!

we live v. Busy lives and for many, Saturday is just another day of the week. If that is true for you, try to find a moment for yourself - even 10 mins of mindfulness practice each day can make a lasting impact in your life!

“Research has found that mindfulness training alters our brains and how we engage with ourselves, others, and our work. When practiced and applied, mindfulness fundamentally alters the operating system of the mind. Through repeated mindfulness practice, brain activity is redirected from ancient, reactionary parts of the brain, including the limbic system, to the newest, rational part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex.”

“Practice 10 minutes of mindfulness training each day. Most people find mornings the best time to practice mindfulness, but you can do it any time of day.” Guided mindfulness practices of various time lengths can be found through various websites, including:
- greatergood.berkeley.edu/topic/mindfulness (@greatergoodmag )
- potentialproject.com/basic-focus-practice

or apps, WALL-E REALLY LOVES @calm !

So, put your feet up or down or crossed or out for ten minutes today and try a mindfulness practice. It may be an access point to greater serenity in your life overall. 🤍

Quotes from @harvard_business_review article: “Spending 10 Minutes a Day on Mindfulness Subtly Changes the Way You React to Everything” by Rasmus Hougaard, Jacqueline Carter, and Gitte Dybkjaer

WALL-E had the joy of participating in the global collaborative project @pughood_traveling_hat !
Thanks to @sharkybobarky for selecting WALL-E to wear the hat the past couple of weeks during his summer fun!

It’s really magical to know this little hat that sat atop WALL-E’s perfect little head has sat atop other pug heads thousands of miles away!

DM WALL-E if you would like to be the next pug (or other pup) to be part of this fantastic project!

Another detail shot of @carasmelter plate because this plate etched so well and I’m so stoked. Cara scratched this ground PERFECTLY, which is super important for letting the acid get to the copper. Even the thinnest layer of oil, like a fingerprint, will resist etching. This is her first intaglio plate, and she KILLED IT.

Another stunning plate rolled in a bit ago for The Summer of Feminine Rage project and I am just now getting around to proofing the etch. It turned out amazing, and Cara (@carasmelter) picked a great, classic combo for the piece. I’ll be editioning this up next week after market prep this week. #printprintprint
