Living now as a mediator in Hamburg Lou Richter will be never forgotten by me for two reasons.
First as a host of a Basketball 🏀 / NBA format in TV which was new for Germany.
And as part of the fantastic Comedy Factory. Somehow a First in it‘s own way.
German podcast @dashobbycom managed just about 2 years ago to get the not seen anymore but never forgotten Lou into their show. What a flashback. Thanks 😊 to Marcus and Dennis. Lou handed them a few of his personal Upper Deck card. To my knowledge a gift from Upper Deck to him and never part of an official set.
In the end and thanks to Dennis from the podcast I managed to get my hand on the card. Had to pay by writing the sad story about the way of NBA Buffalo Braves who became the San Diego Clippers, who are now the LA Clippers (and still do not win). But they are Dennis team.
Now the card was graded at the fantastic card show „Cardvention“ in 2025 in K- Town.
Show was brilliantly organized and card graded by @goldstandardgrading
See the card and my two other grades from the show which all arrived safely today.

In 1992, he joined the sports department of Sat.1, a German private TV station as a freelancer, initially hosting news sports programs such as ran and Sport im Frühstücksfernsehen (Breakfast TV). From 1993 to 1995, he hosted the basketball show jump ran, a weekly magazine program about the US basketball league NBA. Following this, he was a member of the Comedy Factory (TV station ProSieben) as an actor and writer, a sketch comedy series that was nominated for the Golden Lion (1997) and the Golden Rose of Montreux, among others.

I realized it too late. Oscar Schmidt is not longer world leading scorer in
total points scored.

I am born at the beginning of the 1960s. A lot of things changed since that
time. But a few things seemed unchangeable. For the longest part of my life
Kareem Abdul- Jabbar was the NBA player with the most points scored in
total. Even Michael Jordan came not even close.

I had to be already in my sixties when LeBron did so. On February 7, 2023,
James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record with a total of 38,390 regular
season points in his NBA career.

But there was still one constant left. He was not particularly well known
in the USA and Germany, but I still valued him very much. His name?

Oscar Schmidt. He was considered to be the all-time leading scorer in the
history of basketball, with 49,973 career points scored. Details see the
following. But LeBron did it again ☹

On March 5, 2025 LeBron cracked the 50.00 points mark. All points scored in
NBA regular season and playoffs. Including his 273 points scored at 4
Olympics he surpassed Oscar Schmidt already on April 02, 2024.

I did not notice. Goodbye youth and beautiful memories. 🤷‍♂️🫣
