Finally post wknd update — it was good to hug, squeeze and love on my girl. She’s def in the midst of freshmen student athlete adjustment with a difficult work load but she’s prevailing. Vani and I got in late Friday after vb but Carissa was already at the camper awaiting our arrival and I got lucky enough to have all of us together again even if for a night. Not a ton of free time again so just some R&R for us watching some softball, resetting her life (all the chores) and some fishing. She even gave her brother a first hand tour of her new home away from home. One of these days we might make it to the real beach again 😂. Best part of the sb wknd was hanging with PT and her parental unit (former coach) even if for 15mins (that hug was a long time coming and she needed it more than you know)! 💕

Holding your kiddo and sister for just a few mins after you’ve missed them so is a special kind of torture but I’ll take what I can get. Poor Vani hasn’t seen her sister since early September and a few minutes was too little time. Girls fell to UH after a very long and emotional inaugural fall ball Saturday in San Antonio. Counting down the days until Friday where we actually get to spend some quality time with our lovebug! Prayers for a more peaceful week until we get there! So thankful for the love shown to my girly today from everyone. She needed it and I needed it. We are grateful and thankful for you always! 🤗

Both girls had a decent day! One helped her team indoors and one had her very first collegiate hit and put out from her old stomping grounds at 3rd. I will miss her at SS but you gotta do what you gotta do! Cannot wait to hug my girls together manana! #teamcaptain #collegiateplayer #fishyyears

Nasty 19 came and went in a blur! I squeezed in a surprise visit during her available few hours of free time. Not many pics as I barely saw her between her community service gig and camp duties gig. But, she needed her family and so we conquered and divided! She was able to have a little fun out w new roommates/friends, enjoyed having her core4 FaceTime call all catching up (which was good for this mama heart) and finally able to relax in a refreshed and restocked apartment. A whopping 15 hours of sleep was had but who needs sleep-and at least it brings back memories. She is so loved and I can’t wait to celebrate her properly In November, geesh. Keep chasing dreams, loving big, and doing all the things! We are so proud of you and are enjoying watching you continue to grow in to your wonderful self! We are your biggest fans and love you sooo mucho! Bubbs went down the following weekend to catch some sister time, some softball scrimmages, some sun and some fish…it really is a little piece of heaven down there!

First full week of school is completed for all. 1st fall hell week w/ 5am@wake up calls is complete for Carissa. 1st official rivalry game/win for Vanessa (w special friends & family)! 1st first week celebrations for the girls (complete w an impromptu C4 mama reunion). Carissa enjoyed her first beach bash w her team & friends and Vanessa went to her 1st FNL. So far everyone seems to be finding their groove and this mama heart is slowly adjusting.

Day too many away from her but we are slowly adjusting. It helps we get to ft at least once daily (for now anyways). First day of class pics featured her pre class bright and early, with 2 of her roommates and the last was her opening her 1st care package of “necessities” but I threw in a few surprises. We miss her like crazy and I can’t wait see her (🤞🏻 for LD) but so happy she’s settling in! #lovemylovebug

Our traditional back to school ice cream date looked so very different this year. She’s settling in a little more each day and we are very slowly adjusting without her here. Thankful for technology since she has some free time on her hands for now. To keep her mind right, she’s already hit the cages and the field a few times with her roommates, ran some grown up errands, handled all her appointments and paperwork and met up with a couple of her Dawson Highschool alumni friends and Pals. Some of her besties move in tomorrow and more will be right for her! I wish I could be there to watch her continue to blossom in person but grateful I still get to be a small part via technology a few minutes a day. She is missed so much by us all and we are so very proud of her!! Getting some of her gear helped us both the other night so we will take the wins where we can. I’m super excited to see how her custom designed glove turns out because her inspiration was perfection … plus it’s supposed to be broken in for her already so that’s a win win in my book! Hoping all our friends and parents are adjusting well and finding their groove at whatever pace you need because this is HARD. Already looking forward to the drive down in a few weeks!! She really knew what she was doing last year! We LOVE you BIG, lovebug!! And i know my ft skills need work! Its def a wor in progress!!!

Lawd, this mama needs all the good vibes! How’d we get here so fast? May these girls and all the kiddos find their new norm, acclimate well, grow in mind, spirit and knowledge and have their best years yet! More collegiate move in post coming but I’m still too emotional for that right now.

We survived day 1 … even if barely. 🥵 😅 😢 😭
One more partial day and then we all find our new norm. She’s (mostly) ready … I am NOT … but I hope to be soon. She is so loved and missed already 🥰

Today was a great day! Started with C squared getting their 🥎 “Wall of Honor” ball (recognition bestowed to all DHS collegiate level players) followed by some early morning hitting/running (even at 800am it’s HOT 🥵)! We concluded the day doing some dorm room shopping, and man, I hope we are close to being done! Vanessa officially entered the highschool this afternoon as the final Anaya DHS Athlete securing a spot with the DHS volleyball jv team and she is excited to get to work - her dream come true! Super excited many of her friends made the program and we are excited to watch their journeys. Not pictured was lunch with the boys, a rare occurrence these days! The days are zooming by now and I’m just happy to get all the family time I can-we won’t talk about how many days are left bc this mama heart is struggling!
