Our last day started in Cornetel at a former orphanage that has become a home of love and family. These are some of the kids that were super special to our 2021 and 2023 teams and us to them (they still have our photos!). We spent most of our day here grilling, playing lop tennis, teaching them knockout and dancing. These kids are INCREDIBLY gifted through art, photography and music. Their leader Adina said their mission is to provide a supportive and loving environment that encourages their dreams. You could see that mission in every room of the home.
We closed out our time together with a last supper at a family’s home in Cluj. All of the leaders and families that we’ve met and been blessed by were there to celebrate an incredible week of ministry and say goodbye. Some of our friends were not ready to say goodbye and came with us back to the hotel where a couple of the teens pulled an all nighter with them to fully maximize their time and bond together.
We met as a team last night to reflect on our trip and the overall sentiment was that we were ministered to this week! We came to serve but were served in a way that was so Jesus like that we are leaving more full than we came.
We are now in the airport about to begin our journey back home and we cannot wait to share stories and the work that God has been doing in our lives and hearts.
Be patient with us as we process and try to put words to an experience that is truly indescribable.
See yall in 19 hours!

Our teams have reunited! We embraced like it had been months since we’d seen each other though it’s only been 3 days.
While the Border team was having their last breakfast in Salacea with Irvin and driving the 3 hours to Comsesti; our other team was putting the finishing touches on the pallet benches they made and setting poles for the construction project that will be ongoing this Summer.
Once we united, Pastor Rares’ mother (Rodica) and Diana made a traditional Romanian dish of Somali and papanasi.
We hit up the Salt Mine on our way out of town and found our 2023 team’s signatures still on the bridge at the bottom!
We then made our way to Sibiu to sightsee for a few hours and found ourselves in the middle of a theater festival with performances around every corner.
We are staying the night in a NICE hotel that we have all to ourselves just outside of town.
Tomorrow we will spend time with the kids from the orphanage close to Sibiu and a couple of our students will share their testimonies.
We are at the point where our plane ride here feels like weeks ago and this has become a second home. The hospitality and love of our Romanian friends have made all of this easier to focus on our mission and savor every moment.

Border Team Update Day 5!

We started at the church in Salacea meeting the kids of the village. Through soccer, games and crafts our team quickly learned names and began making memories.
Following lunch the team went to an old historical mansion in town and explored the escape tunnel out back.
We then went to a different village, Valle lui Mihai, to meet and play with the kids of the village. We played some Protect the President, Soccer and volleyball.
We have been super spoiled here with home cooking for every meal and they keep insisting on us getting ice cream following each time. The generosity is beyond incredible.
We also took a tour of some of the work the church is doing in Salacea. They are helping families that are in small or dilapidated homes and building them NEW ones! One such home is right next to their old crumbling one. A constant reminder of the capacity of grace that God offers to each of us!
Tomorrow we will be meeting new kids from a different village, painting the inside of their church and then helping lead worship in the evening.

We wrapped up camp today with prayer, testimonies and some hard goodbyes. Our team has been in awe of how quickly you can bond with people that speak a different language but it is because we speak the same language of the spirit through Christ.
Some of our goodbyes were to each other! We are not split into two teams to double our impact over the next couple of days.
Team Comcesti began prepping for VBS and their construction project.
The border team drove through the mountains and rain to arrive at their home base for the next few days in Salacea. (Near Hungary) They will be learning about the ministries of multiple villages and spending time with the kids in each. We’ve rented out a sports facility for the kids and we foresee a lot of soccer. We will also help lead worship on Wednesday.
God is doing powerful things not just through us, but also within us and healing is beginning in some of our hearts and encouragement for next steps in our faith journey are bubbling up.
Pray the Spirit continues to move in our teams as our physical stamina wanes.

Our day started off a little rough this morning when one of our vans broke down as we left for camp today. To be fair, someone in their car asked for a special memory today…
We all made it to Camp Sequoia! We are here with adults and kids from all over Romania. We broke the ice with games and soccer.
Zach gave his testimony tonight about battling loneliness with the promises of God.
It was a great kickoff to our Fearless theme this weekend and arm ourselves with promises to give us courage from our Faith.
Our students are already making fast friends, learning Romania and meeting the expectations that the Romanians have come to expect from our groups.
