AUM New Year's Festival: 3 days+nights, 4 themed stages, over 200 music, performing and visual artists.

AUM is an epic festival adventure. The grand White Stag stage hosts three different nights across the festival - a house/techno night on the 30th, a psytrance marathon on the 31st and a bass realm day/night on 1st Jan.

The Kānuka Stage is a stage dedicated to the best in underground house and techno, hosted under a huge stretch tent to create a nightclub in a forest.

The Hill is the bush doof vibe stage with a focus on bass music, drum and bass and psychedelics sounds taking place in a gorgeous natural amphitheatre.

Finally, the Hub Stage is our mixed-genre performance zone for bands, cirque performances, late night chill and daytime downbeat/dub. It's located under the big top circus tent right in the middle of the festival.

Whatever your vibe, you're sure to find it here.

Tickets to AUM Festival 2025 are via Flicket. Get them early to take advantage of the payment plan options including Afterpay.

ART SHOWCASE: MIRROR BALLS. Mirror balls are an essential part of any good dance floor, and they’re sometimes more special than you might think.

If you’ve even been on a dance floor at AUM and looked up you may have noticed some mirror balls that are quite unique. They are the custom creations by Carl Wanoa who designs unique mirror balls that are pieces of art in themself. Carl was also on some of our street posters last year in his human mirror ball outfit. We asked him about his mirror balls.

> How long have you been making mirror balls?
I made a few many years ago but started again in 2021 during Auckland’s first lockdown. I was only going to make some as gift for friends but fell in love with creating them.

> Do you have any inspiration for unique designs?
I get inspiration from mosaic tiling. Mandala patterns and playing around lights, smoke, reflections and smoke beams from mirrors.

> Do your unique designs have any special effect on how they work?
Each ball has a layer of special holographic wrap underneath so when there is no direct light in them it looks silver but with direct light they have a rainbow holographic glow/reflection. I use a lot of diamond, triangular, hexagonal & circle shaped mirrors to create different patterns on the balls. So with the right light, they reflect these shapes & patterns. I use a mix of silver & gold mirrors which give off silver & gold beams.

> How long do they take to make?
Depending on free time, size & design about 2 to 3 weeks.

> Have you done any interesting custom commissions?
I'm currently making a big 800mm mirror ball for a shop in Auckland as a permanent art installation.

> What is the best use of mirror balls you've seen at a gig in NZ?
Once at a festival we had a giant 2m mirror ball which we put a smoke machine under and pointed a giant sky tracker light at it. It was an amazing effect. You could see the beams from miles away.

> Favourite artist you've seen at AUM?
Antix & Ferksta

Thanks to @carlwanoa the mirror ball legend! See you at AUM.
