Cover Story #3 in the books… literally 🤎

I am so incredibly proud of this issue.

Black Love has been a space I have been surrounded by my entire life but to see and experience it through the lens of the love story of Joi & Tristan was otherworldly. I am so grateful to have gleaned such knowledge and value through their inspiring tale and pray that readers get a glimpse of God, Africa and Culture through their story.

And not just that, but to extend that story of Black Love into beauty with my “You Got That Glow” piece featuring some of my favorite #BlackOwned brands like @kncbeauty @cecred @forbluewatergirls and @patmcgrathreal was magic.

And the icing on the cake to all of this was writing a tribute article in honor of the iconography and legendary legacy of the brilliant #QuincyJones. If you know me, you know who my father is (Shoutout to my dad for forcing us to listen to ALL genres of music growing up). And through that, you know my music catalog runs DEEP. And Sir Quincy was one of my absolute FAVORITES. When he passed, I was so impacted; so to receive this writing assignment meant the world and I hope that through writing and curating that piece, that readers can incorporate a hint of his ever-lasting impact on culture into their wedding day setlist. 🎶

I want to send a huge “thank you” to our fierce and fearless leader @marychatman1 aka the Editor-in-Chief of BB. Thank you, Mary for always seeing me and forcing me to shine brighter and aim higher! I am so grateful for you.

The BB Team is full of amazing women and I am inspired by you all so incredibly much. Thank you for always letting me listen and learn and lifting me up when I need it most by simply being yourselves and operating in excellence always! Love and admire you ladies greatly! @carlyisinspired @veilbydaraadams @candicesdavie @speakbeautiful

What a fun text to get from @_kayleehobbs yesterday that one of the stunning @shoppoppyandpink dresses we shot at @posthouseinn was being featured in @real_simple! 🤩

So incredibly proud of you, K! Your hard work is getting the recognition it deserves. It’s a gift + a joy to play a small part in it all. Xo!

@suzcarp28 and Grant’s July wedding day was so special from start to finish, and the main reason is because I’ve known Suzanne’s family since her sister, @mecarp04, and I were in elementary school. I was so honored when Suzanne and her mom reached out to me to help them to pull together the details. ❤️

Suzanne and Grant kicked off their wedding day by getting ready at one of my favorite hotels in Philly, @kimptoninphl. She shared a first look with her dad, which made me cry because knowing Suzanne’s family so well made her wedding day that much sweeter. Then it was off to First Bank across the street for Suzanne and Grant’s first look, couple’s portraits, wedding party portraits, and family portraits.

@cescaphe’s Down Town Club served as Suzanne and Grant’s ceremony and reception location (something I highly recommend doing), and Cescaphe’s team was the very BEST to work with. I loved the modern, colorful (!!!) floral arrangements by @beautifulbloomsevents; the couple’s ceremony, which was officiated by Grant’s childhood minister all the way from San Francisco; the ways in which Suzanne and Grant infused his Japanese heritage; Grant’s sister’s hula dance (!!!); my friend Mary’s matron of honor speech; and watching Suzanne and Grant’s incredible families and friends pack the dance floor.

This day was such a special way to wrap up this year’s summer weddings. And I’ll never forget teaming up with a family I’ve known for almost my entire life to celebrate one of their most special days. The fact that Suzanne’s mom called me “a machine” after the fact—because I don’t stop moving on weeding days—definitely didn’t hurt either. 😂🥰❤️

It’s very rare that I post a photo of both people just looking at the camera & smiling but something about this was so simple yet regal that I loved it and had to share

They say the in between moments are the best… and this wedding was full of sweet little stolen moments.

>> Swipe all the way through to see my favorite portrait at the end. I love finding new ways to photograph in old spaces - and bc we’ve done so many weddings at Downtown Club, I’m always looking for new ways to take a portrait like this one, which was in the back room of the venue.

Back to back posts? Who am I? I DON’T KNOW. 😂

I snuck in front of @haleyrichterphoto’s camera for a hot second on Saturday right before we left for the first look. I was laughing when she took this, and I think I look so happy. The best part is that’s exactly how I felt. 🥰

Working with friends is the very best! You’re so wonderful, Haley. 💕

Well… kind of. But your wedding cake can really last forever in the form of a non-edible replica ornament!

Meet Deanna of @sweetreplica a PA based vendor offering a unique service to couples where she will replicate with clay, your wedding cake 🍰 It’s such a unique service that we couldn’t resist interviewing Deanna for our Fall Magazine’s vendor feature.

Go check it out over on the blog and see it in print in the latest issue
