POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

yesterday, i got to officiate a wedding for two young adults who were in my YA ministry! Having Lainey there with me made it a day i’ll remember for a long time.

i kept thinking about how, one day, Lord willing, i’ll be standing up there again when it’s her turn. i have tried not to think about that too much, because how in the world could my little girl grow up to be that big?🥺

what i really thought about were the years i have before that day comes. years where she’ll be watching me, and learning what love looks like long before she knows who she’ll marry.

i hope the way i love Carly gives her a glimpse of what she should look for. i hope she sees that loving someone is more than feeling. it’s a daily choice to serve, encourage, protect, and pursue one another.

i hope she sees the joy we share, the way we support each other, the way we laugh together, the way we show each other grace, and celebrate when each other deserves it.

i want her to know that marriage should be a beautiful partnership. where both people are committed to helping each other grow and faithfully building a life together that follows closely behind Jesus.

God knows i won’t get it all right, cause i don’t always get it right with Him😂. But, i pray that by the time i’m standing beside Lainey on her wedding day, i’ll have given her a picture of the kind of love that honors the Lord. Both in the way i love her mom and in the way i love her.

i don’t want to take the responsibility of my little girl watching me lightly, so, here’s to doing my best to being the best example i can, Lainey🤍🩵

it’s been a really fun last couple weeks.

Lainey traveled to her 4th state in only 4 months of life, going to Vegas to visit her great-grandparents. She almost got her first bite of a burger too, if carly wasn’t faster pulling it away from her mouth she might have, haha!

Love getting to go on life’s adventure with these two girls.

you’ve been good to us, God🫶🏻

thankful for this season of life that i’ve been able to spend with my girls.

i’ve loved watching carly step into being a mom and loving our Lainey girl so well. Carly is the strongest and fiercest woman i know. She perseveres through long nights with little sleep and all the while still makes time to be the intentional wife to me that i’m so grateful for.

lainey is growing and absolutely loving life. she loves her stuffed animals, rolling on her tummy and then not knowing how to roll back and crashing out😂 she makes the highs feel really high, and even the lows feel not that low.

i’ve seen so much of my tenderness and warmth come out over the last few months. and there’s almost a peace within me that has allowed a personality of joy and excitement for life that i for some reason pushed down, that has broken through the soil of my heart to bloom.

thankful for this season, and excited for the next🫶🏻

my baby is getting big🥺

lainey is watching, staying very hydrated, and playing super well. she talks to me and carly all day, and probably goes through 12-15 diapers a day.

she’s happy and healthy and we couldn’t be more thankful and blessed by this little girl🫶🏻

absolute surrender.

that’s been my motto over the last few weeks. from the book by Andrew Murray that shares its title, or the last weeks of waiting for our little lainey to arrive.

moments over and over again that i’ve prayed for and have come to pass. waiting to become a dad, seeing God do big things at church, seeing young adults get delivered right in front of my eyes. getting to share the stage with friends who are like brothers. seeing what i share through posts, text messages, and sermons and how God uses them.

little ole me is glad i got a big ole God.

that tim timberlake quote wrecked me too. “crucify your ego to clarify your calling.” that’s a word and a half.

if you could bring to life “God dream”, that’s what I feel like i get to live right now. and i know it’s just getting started.

absolute surrender, no matter what. good or bad.
