I did this as part of a custom made costume design for a performance and exhibition from @tonibrell. As soon as they showed me a picture of the space we would be shooting in the idea of this styling came to mind immediately. Post apocalyptic limbo creature entities all in similar colours of beiges, rusts and whites. More of the full outfits and props soon ✨

Vrijdag is de ALLER ALLER ALLER laatste MONOMAAN. Echt de laatste. Ook mijn gezwel heeft geen toegift meer. 
In 2022 begon ik aan de plaat. In 2023 speelden Sander en ik Metgezwel op de Parade. Twee jaar later werd dat een avondvullende voorstelling: het hele land door, met Lowlands als afsluiter. Daarna bracht ik de muziek uit en maakte er een theatraal popconcert bij. En vrijdag spelen we dat voor het laatst in De Lieve Vrouw in Amersfoort.

Mijn hoofdtumor was de aanleiding. Maar het verhaal ging ook over zorgen voor elkaar. Over mantelzorg, een woord waar we als missie bij hadden om het iets minder stoffig te maken. Terwijl die periode, naast alle ellende en pijn, óók vol liefde, humor, ochtenddansjes en gezelligheid zat. Mantelzorg mag ook waardevol zijn. En af en toe zelfs leuk.

Maar nu dus: een einde van een periode. En dat is goed. Er is genoeg gezongen over gezwellen, dexamethason en niet kunnen slapen.
En niet dat ik die nummers nooit meer ga zingen. Ik ben er onwijs trots op, en er zitten steengoede popsongs tussen die ik met @sergioescoda_ en @tessarosejackson schreef. Maar het hele verhaal, van begin tot eind, dat ga ik niet meer integraal vertellen. Het is zwaar om steeds terug te gaan naar die periode. Op het podium voel ik de kracht van theater en popmuziek en hoe dit verhaal iets kan betekenen. Perspectief geven, hoop bieden, een gesprek op gang brengen. Dat is heel bijzonder. En tegelijkertijd ben ik nu in een andere fase aangekomen.

Er is een kleine baby om voor te zorgen en Sander en ik schrijven een nieuwe voorstelling die we volgend jaar gaan repeteren en spelen. Er zijn nieuwe dingen om te vertellen en over te schrijven.

Dus de aller aller aller laatste: heb je de afgelopen vier jaar Metgezwel en MONOMAAN gemist? Metgezwel spelen we helaas niet meer, maar as vrijdag is je kans om MONOMAAN nog te zien! Om 20 uur in De Lieve Vrouw in Amersfoort.

Catching one of those small moments on set.

Sliding in on the red Komodo while Agent Vale lights a cigarette. The room was kept dark with a few flickering practical lights to give it that uneasy feeling. Simple move, simple setup, but it’s always cool to see how these little details build the atmosphere of the scene.

This #fallenangel concept is sitting on my desktop for a few months by now. I honestly love a lot of shots taken that day - and I really couldn’t decide between them or between their colour grading 🫠 so I ended up editing quite a bunch, all with different colours/moods 🙃. And here’s the first “set” 🙇‍♀️

Thank you @steveblainefly for helping me that day. The wind/weather was definitely a paid actor - it was storming and raining while the sun was shining. Incredibly beautiful
