Second up!

Hi! My name is Carmen! I played flag at RV from 2023-2025 and help coach/ do privates when I’m home from college. I now attend Colorado Mesa University and play on the women’s Rugby team! We are currently undefeated and the returning D2 national champions. I keep very busy with school and rugby but also hanging with my friends and being outdoors!!!

Sorry in advance for the length of this. Last nights sports banquet was a beautiful ending to not only this season, but the first chapter of RV flag football. All of our OG players that showed up year one have moved on and our team is indebted to their efforts. I was honored as one of five Jeffco coach of the year recipient’s from RV. It was a humbling moment for many reasons including the fact that I stood on stage with coaching giants while being so new to this all. Having my peers from rival district flag teams see fit to honor me is something I have no words for other than thank you. Those coaches are incredibly talented and knowledgeable and made my coaching life so difficult and rewarding. I want to thank so many people for all they have done to help this team be successful. Thank you to my family. I never would have been as successful in this adventure if it weren’t for your support and love. Thank you to all of my coaches for giving so much of yourselves to this team and these athletes. The award may have gone to me but I feel like this award to belongs to all of you. Thank you to all of the flag athletes from year one to today. Whether you play on varsity or L3, you have taught me so much and have been so patient while we built this amazing program. Thank you to all of the parents that supported us and helped build a lasting legacy at RV. No one would be here if you hadn’t bought in on this new sport. Lastly, I’d like to thank Coach Jonson for giving me my start coaching the flag team and to Coach Rio for folding me in to the Lace Up family. I have and continue to learn so much from all of you. Shout out Coach Rio and Lacey for the long discussions about strategy and life and to Coach Dev for working side by side with me last spring even though we knew we’d be at rival schools in the fall. I’m blessed and thankful!
