For Your Consideration: In January of 2025 @willyportermusic gathered 3 fantastically talented friends at @eastweststudios Studio 1 to record “Live In The Studio” versions of 8 of his songs. @wizardwallace and I were asked to record the performance as it happened in 7.1.4 #dolbyatmos using an 11-microphone array. The resulting album - Humans In A Room - features these incredible performances as they happened. No overdubs. Every sound heard on the recording happened live in the room during tracking. 4 musicians at the top of their game breathing life into these incredible songs captured natively for immersive music (and equally impressive in stereo).

Project Santa Monica's SM-5 spotted in HOLLYWOOD @eastweststudios, with special appearance by some IN-8 V2s! Fun fact: you can mix Kali speaker models in Atmos. Mixed configs match very well in terms of timbre!

Had the wonderful opportunity to not only write an article for @recordingmagazine on the topic of different approaches to Atmos recording, but also realized after the fact that I recorded all of the projects mentioned - along with @wizardwallace - in another article! As always a big thanks to @pvnukjr and all the folks at RECORDING for the opportunity! And @deathdiamondofficial @jacobmannmusic & @willyportermusic for talking about our projects!

What a wonderful night last night inside the Thrasher Opera House as Willy Porter performed his 20 show at TOH. Willy always manages to bring something different on each tour. This time he brought fellow amazing humans Mai Bloomfield, Carmen Nickerson and Ryan Pearl for a remarkable set of songs spanning his catalog. Don’t miss an opportunity to catch this show live.
