More Easter Weekend Fun! This pipe bowl was made to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. The pipe features himself and Queen Alexandra. I nearly didn’t make it to the foreshore on Sunday. After a long week of work, an early start Friday and a busy Saturday, I nearly went back to bed. I’m happy I made it down there tho and to quote Edward VII’s final words: “I am very glad”. My lovely Mudlark friend @carolinenmudlark also found a wonderful pictorial clay pipe on Sunday, check out her post!! #mudlarking #thamesmudlark #mudlarkingfinds #londonmudlark #claypipe

I paid a visit to the UK’s first major exhibition about mudlarking at the Museum of London Docklands!

It covers lots of historical treasures found on the foreshore of the Thames, as well as looking at mudlarking as a practice.

Doves Type found by @thames_skipper, the medals by Kamil Zawistowski, the sundial found by Peter Olivant and @thehistoryhunter_mudlark, the tobacco pipe bowl found by @thehourofthedog, the sixpence by @carolinenunneleymudlark and the eye by @london.mudlark . 👏👏👏

Exhibition is on until the 1st March 2026 and I have a write up of eight of my highlights on my website (link in bio).

Thank you @wearelondonmuseum for the invite to look around 🙌

Such an honour to attend the opening evening of the ‘Secrets of the Thames’ exhibition last night @wearelondonmuseum

Congratulations to all the finders exhibited, the London Museum team and curator Kate Sumnall. It truly is an important exhibition for all amateur hobbyists and it was beautiful to see all the hard work of London’s Mudlarks acknowledged, particularly for their conservation, recording and sharing of London’s history.

This exhibition is as much about the finders as it is the treasure trove of incredible finds they uncover and that’s how it should be!

It was also wonderful to see so many of our friends but sadly, so many people we didn’t get to catch up with!? Hopefully we’ll see you on the foreshore next time! 😉
