Embrace and Enjoy the Journey.

I remember my reality, as a boy, laughing way too hard to breathe while listening to inappropriate Adam Sandler comedy tracks on a portable CD player with a childhood classmate on the school bus ride home (parents, do whatever you can to keep your kids off the school bus 😬)—only to hop off and run up our big field as fast as I could, darting through the door with eager hope and desperation to catch as much of the day’s episode of Dragon Ball Z’s ending in my small rural Oklahoma town.

I remember my first encounter with God and every consecutive supernatural moment throughout my childhood to now. The youth camp moments, the getting back home, laying down, staring up at the ceiling and thinking, “God, how do I stay close to you like this? How can I keep Your presence close? How do I seek You? How do I find You?”

I remember how He’s fathered me every single day, in all the hard moments, in all the moments. I feel how He’s fathering me through this transition now.

Never would I have had capacity to imagine that this little boy, in an overlooked and unknown town, would be married to such a beautiful woman inside and out, raising such a beautiful and sincere hearted little boy (more kids to come, don’t worry 😎), speaking another language—from Dallas to Miami, and now to Brazil. Never could I have imagined.

And that’s just it. Why me? He could’ve chosen anyone else in my little town, but He reached out and chose me, revealed himself, called me and sent me. This brings me straight to my knees, every single time.

The venture with God is only one He can dream up. If it’s doable by your hand; if it’s comfortable; if it’s predictable; if it makes sense, it’s not His 100% plan.

The same goes for you and your story.

We don’t know what’s next down here, or for quite how long. But we choose to embrace and enjoy the journey.

By the way, just in case you were curious, the Adam Sandler track that got us the most was the one with him at the urinal takin’ a wiz. #iykyk
