As a daughter of a young single mother, as a mother to a teen daughter, as a survivor of sexual abuse, we must stand together and we must stand strong. Having us women stand together isn’t enough, we need men to stand up for what’s right too!

I am so grateful for organizations like @wsohawaii that help with prevention, advocacy and training to spread awareness of domestic violence. Any type of violence is not condoned.

Thats a wrap — Vegas 2026.

Not my year. 🥹 But we keep building. 🫶

I don't really know how to put this one into words.

I wanted this win. Badly. I trained for it. I worked for it. I pictured it. And losing my first IBJJF match hurts more than I can explain.

It felt like nothing I did was enough.

But then I looked around.

And I realized something that has nothing to do with the result.

I felt so loved. So cared for. So supported.

Growing up, I always wanted to be part of something like this. A community. A place where I belonged. Friends that showed up.

And somehow, I found that on the mats.

People who showed up for me when I was excited.
People who showed up when I was nervous.
People who showed up when I was crying.
People who stood behind me when things didn't go the way I wanted them to.

Not just when I'm winning.
But when I'm hurting, too.

My mom has always been my rock. ❤️ The person who has been there through every version of me, every high and every low. Having her behind me through this journey means more than I could ever put into words.

And to my coaches, teammates, friends, sponsors, and my entire Jiu-Jitsu family — thank you.

For believing in me.
For pushing me.
For preparing me.
For showing up.
For reminding me that one match doesn't define me.
For all the support messages.

Somewhere deep down, a little part of me still worries that I let everyone down. But I know that's just me being Aula. 🥹

Because the people who were there didn't look at me like I disappointed them.

They hugged me.
They cried with me.
They reminded me they were proud of me.
And they told me to keep going.

So yes… it stings.
I'm allowed to be disappointed. I'm allowed to want more.

But I'm also incredibly grateful.

My first IBJJF match.
One of the biggest stages of Jiu-Jitsu.

A whole lot of lessons.

And a whole lot of people behind me.

Not my year.
But we're not done.

Baby’s first Master Worlds

Bottom of the under 129 weight class at 121.8 in the gi

Won my first match by decision and lost my second by submission.

I am so thankful for my coaches and my teammates for preparing me for the world stage. I know I have a lot to work on for next year and I’m so glad I had so much support today.

Big thanks to my family because they have tolerated me training 6-8 times a week for several months.

I love this sport and the people in it. Let’s see where this all leads. ❤️

After I lost my second match I got this photo, grabbed my swag bag and left. Three days of jiu jitsu con was A LOT

This was my first time flying and being at a big tournament. Kari and Coty have made this experience way less scary and so much fun.

Woke up 119lbs. Next time, I need to plan my meals and eat better.

WHY ARE WOMEN DOING JIU-JITSU? 🥋✨

Not just to learn how to fight.

Women are stepping onto the mat to become stronger, more confident, more resilient, and more connected to themselves.

Some come to learn self-defense.
Some come to get stronger.
Some come to lose weight.
Some come because they need an outlet.
Some come after a difficult chapter in their lives.
Some come because they want to compete.

And some simply want to discover what they are capable of.

But what keeps women coming back is bigger than Jiu-Jitsu.

It’s the confidence that grows every time you survive a difficult round.
It’s the courage to be uncomfortable.
It’s learning that being uncomfortable doesn’t mean you are weak.
It’s finding your strength when you thought you had none left.

Jiu-Jitsu teaches women:

I asked my Muay Thai teammates a very simple question:

“What would you do if a homeless kid came up to you asking for food?” 🥺🍜

Their answers… somehow turned into a full-on Maui fight camp emergency response plan. 😂🥊

Because apparently when you train Muay Thai, the answer to EVERYTHING is:

🥊 “I’m gonna teep him.”
🥊” Knees, elbows”
🥊 “Where is he?”
🥊 “Say less.”

Meanwhile… nobody was even talking about fighting a kid. 😭😂

The editing department may have taken a few liberties with the original question… but honestly, this is exactly the kind of chaos you get when you ask a bunch of fighters a serious question and then give them just enough rope to hang themselves with. 😂

Maui Muay Thai teammates: 10/10 fighters. 0/10 for understanding the assignment. 🥊🌴

My summer has been filled with new hobbies!

Jiu-jitsu- there is no hiding who you are when you step onto the mats. You’re immediately confronted by all of your insecurities and self doubts while also being completely and fully accepted by everyone regardless. It’s been such a humbling and beautiful learning experience. I feel so grateful to have such strong and inspiring teachers 💛

Party Hostess- having a home with enough space to host (way more than our Austin tiny home) has brought Graham and I so much joy! From our first cornhole tournament to birthday parties and gatherings, we are so excited to bring the people together 🥂

Sauna regulars- Graham and I have been making some home improvements, one of which is the sauna. Not as homemade as our last one 😅 but Graham did an awesome job putting it together!
•
Sourdough baker- I owe everything I know to @bread_and_bees 🐝 we’ve been eating and gifting a lot of bread. Loafs, focaccia & buns 🤩

Back on the climber 🧗- I’m offically back to teaching versa climber classes and I could not be more thrilled. An output for my energy on my favorite workout machine, its a dream 🥰 @mint.maui

All in all, life lately has been full of beautiful, challenging, uncomfortable, and completely perfect moments 💛 I am so grateful for all of it and so lucky to have your love and support ✨🙏🏼💛
