See you at the top! @mammothtrailfest kicked off in the best way they know how, the Dragon’s Back Ascent. Runners took one of the shortest routes up Mammoth Mountain (~3 miles with 2,400ft of gain). Weather was not ideal, but that’s what makes it “fun”. And there will be so much more fun to come here at Trailfest.

I wish you could see how happy (and fast) I was at Mile 51 of an ultra marathon.

Going into my 3rd San Francisco Ultra Marathon, I had very little expectations, just a goal to enjoy the race and stay healthy. But I completely surprised myself: a 16-minute course PR with a slightly quicker first marathon (despite stopping five! times to adjust shoe laces because I was so scared of getting hurt), and then a few hours later a massive second marathon in a Boston-qualifying time. I felt fresh, fit, and fast, and dropped the fastest two mile splits at Mile 51 and 52. I just couldn't stop smiling (pics as proof!)

I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time: running through a city I love and have missed, friends cheering me on along the course (📸🙏 @boris_p_petrov), and new friendships formed in the heat of competition. It was an honor to share the course with three current and past winners, @tyler.rocha ('25 and CR!), @carson_clowes (’24), and @lukemasefield (’23). What an incredible community the race director @_ultramichaelli has built!

I deferred this race last summer after a foot injury sidelined me in July, and the recovery since has been anything but smooth: winter setbacks, travel disruptions, injury relapses, new aches, even a bike accident. Looking at my marathon PR from two years ago, I often felt like I was miles behind that version of myself. But maybe it’s not about being “back” at all. This is a new version of me: I’ve been logging a ton of trail miles, actually doing track workouts, and focusing less on piling up mileage and more on training efficiency, intent, and recovery. I’m not returning to who I once was, I’m moving forward and keep evolving as a runner.

There was a lot of familiar faces at @runcim262 that I got to catch up with. I was happy to see them out here sharing again a run together.✖️

Slide 1 - @carson_clowes is honestly one of the humblest runners I’ve ever met. He was 1st place winner at @thesfmarathon 2024 Ultra. I finally got the chance to chat with him. I love that he just comes out to these races to have fun and focus on his personal PR goals. Oh yeah we’re already sign up for next years San Francisco Ultra! I told him I was going to train like a monster so I can be up there with him next year. If you see Carson at other races make sure to say hi to him. He will share and talk to you about anything you need to know about running. See you at @thesfmarathon Ultra 2025 Carson!

Slide 2 - Man I did not expect to run into some folks from one of my favorite memories on my transcon. We got the bois from St Louis baby!!! Yehhh!! These dudes killed it! They both hit a PR of 2:50-2:58 😮‍💨 these bois are fast AF boiii. Man I was happy to see them. Thanks to the run club @threerunfour we all manage to connect. I can’t wait to go back to visit them. I got a lot of love for the running community in St Louis. They came out for me during both of my Transcon.

Slide 3 - @mario_runs I love this dude! That my boi from LA! He supported me for years even before I got into running just doing my art stuff. He was self taught, dude is fast. I believe his fastest time for a full Marathon is a 2:41. Man I told him my goal for 2025 to get to 2:40-2:45 just like him before that year ends. So I’m finally going to have some sorta trainer/couch to guide me and help me get more out of me. I’m excited to start training with Mario. I’ll see ya back in LA bro!

Slide 4 - @fit.dama man I don’t need to introduce this girl lol I’m sure a lot of you have met her at some expo representing @thesfmarathon ! She’s was the bridge that connected me and TheSFM. Also shoutouts to Lauri, Josh, and Peter for putting me on here and also becoming a big help on my Transcon. Ya’ll bet I’ll be out there representing SFM during all my races! Yall better go sign up for SFM 2025! 10k/HALF/FULL/ULTRA✖️🏃🏻

This Landcruiser is a very important piece of my life. It is my vehicle for adventure and getting me to remote areas of the great outdoors! It is priceless to me.

The outdoors and open road is where I go to do my thinking and clear my head. Being on dirt roads and experiencing majestic landscape views is my church.

Where is your church or zin spot?
