Today’s featured local photographer is @carson_reed!

Here’s a bit about Carson:
.
I’ve been taking pictures for about 6 years now. It started around my junior year of high school when my Grandma gave me her Pentax K-1000. At the time, I didn’t know how to use it, so I took photography class at school and learned how to use a DSLR instead.
.
After that, I gravitated towards film photography. Now, that same K-1000 with a 50mm f/2 lens is what I use for all of my pictures.
.
I love trying out a bunch of different films so I don’t often shoot with the same ones back to back. A few of my favorites are Superia 400 and Cinestill 800, but Lomochrome Purple is fun to experiment with because you have no idea how it will look.
.
I think my biggest motivation for photography is being able to look back and remember certain adventures or trips that you had with yourself or your friends.
.
Thank you Carson for sharing your work and story!

It’s International Photography Day. One of the happiest things in my life is you who have passed through my classroom and have gone on with your own personal magic, offering your voice and perspective to this frayed world. Never stop adventuring and being brave, appreciating the real and the mundane, building unity and belonging, and telling grand stories of love, of artists, musicians, athletes, of the marginalized and the heroes, of real people, of sunrises and friendship, and tell over and over about beautiful and important things. Here’s to you my favorite photographers. Check out my story to see what I mean.
