After 20 years in the sport of wrestling, it’s time for me to step away from competition.

Wrestling has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. It taught me discipline, toughness, and how to push through things that seemed impossible. I’ve had the chance to accomplish a lot over these 20 years and create memories that I’ll carry with me forever. I’m proud of the work I’ve put in and the things I’ve been able to achieve in this sport.

Over the past few years, though, I haven’t been able to compete at the level I know I’m capable of. Wrestling has always meant giving everything I have, and when I step on the mat I want to know I’m performing to my full potential. Realizing that I can’t do that anymore has been one of the hardest things to accept.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey — my coaches, teammates, training partners, friends, and family who supported me through the highs and the tough moments. You all played a role in the wrestler and person I became.

Wrestling gave me more than wins and losses. It gave me lessons that will stay with me long after my last match.

This isn’t goodbye to the sport — just the end of my competitive chapter.

Sending 29 high school wrestlers to the IL state tournament this year at the State Farm Center in Champaign. Cheer our athletes on this week to bring home the gold.

Shout out to @dillon_whi5 ranking #1 going into the state tournament & possibly the 1st state champion wrestler to ever come out of Mount Vernon Township High school.
