Get your self a friend like eli. 4 weeks ago he zelled me $100 so I could buy my plane ticket to Switzerland, I didn’t even have a passport at the time. Tomorrow we leave for the alps at 11am and for 16 days we’re just gonna get after it. Maybe 17 because we might go to Tulane for Halloween. God knows, I don’t.

You don’t need to bring extra gear when backpacking to make coffee.

I am not picky about coffee, I just want a simple cup of hot coffee when backpacking.

Hopefully this tutorial on how I make coffee when backpacking is helpful to those who don’t want to buy extra gear just to make coffee. This is especially huge for this upcoming fall when those mornings in the mountains get cold and you need a lil something to warm you up.

Introduced the gal to backpacking by taking her on a chill 26 mile hike to circumnavigate one of my favorite peaks! Got to see a few goats and meet a couple super cool PCT hikers that treated us to some 10/10 watermelon afterwards as well 🥾

We’re not big breakfast people, but on a high-calorie-burn backpacking day, fueling up matters. 🎒🥾

We ordered the Cascade Alpine tasting box and test tasted the breakfast meals. Both were delicious!

The Breakfast Hash was hearty, filling, flavorful, and didn’t upset our tummies. We’ll definitely be ordering it again and taking tortillas with us!

The Apple Peanut Butter Oats were delicious too, especially if you like a sweeter start to the day.

We’re not being paid for this. We’re genuinely just looking for really good, lightweight trail food for our upcoming backpacking trips.

And after trying all 5 meals in the tasting box, we already know we’ll be placing another order soon. We loved every single one. The price point is there too. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but the quality and nutrition make up for it in our book.

We’re wrapping up our review of Cascade Alpine Ultra Light Trail Food, and there were definitely some standouts! 🥾🏕️

The packaging is ULTRA light, which is a major plus when you’re counting every ounce in your pack. We also loved that the packaging is clear, so we could actually see that everything was mixed properly before adding water.

And the flavor? Layered, flavorful, and definitely not boring trail food.

The Chicken Tortilla Soup was honestly restaurant quality. Our family is a HUGE soup family, and tortilla soup is one of our favorites, so we had high expectations. It delivered. The roasted veggies, the beans, the chicken, every ingredient actually matters. You can tell there’s a real person behind these meals who cares about what goes into them. ❤️

The Chickpea Masala + Chicken Protein was another standout. It costs less than many comparable meals while packing more than twice the protein and fiber. That’s a pretty great combination when you’re trying to get serious nutrition without carrying serious weight.

We won’t be reviewing the spaghetti since it’s no longer in production, but we’ll be trying the breakfast meals soon. And we’re REALLY looking forward to putting the Beef Stroganoff to the test. 👀

One more thing we appreciate: Cascade Alpine has been incredibly responsive through email and social media. That matters to us. We love spending our money with real people who are building something they believe in, not just faceless big-box brands.
