Showing new and previously unseen works from across the last 10 years of my practice. Including my new feature documentary CRASHHEAD and images for my upcoming monograph BEASTLAND1NE.

Opening night is from 6pm. Show is on from the 25th Sept - 2nd Oct.

Riley Road — Master Suite

The front of the house called for a different mood entirely. A cooler grey palette, custom cabinetry with fabric inserts and an ensuite designed around stillness and material depth.

Stone wraps every surface, broken only by iron bronze hardware and the soft, natural glow of a narrow light tunnel overhead draws the sunshine in throughout the day.

Restraint, when it is intentional, is the most luxurious thing of all.

Rinse and repeat. Mays venture to Donnelly River dropping off my art procured by Donnelly River Village as part of my Residency and exhibition with @thedonnellyverandahresidencies last year. Final send off for the piece but not my final venture into the trees doing what I do best.

My piece “Perceiving depth” was aquired by Donnelly River themselves following my Residency with @thedonnellyverandahresidencies last year.

It feels like a complete cycle. The piece created onsite to preside forever within its home landscape. I spent the past few days at Donnelly River to deliver the piece. Taking in the landscape almost 1 full year later. Sitting with rest and observing a landscape so familiar yet different following a process of demystification. Stripping the landscape back into its elemental nature to observe patterns of light, depth and scale. Which “Perceiving depth” was all about. Representing the land in feeling and atmosphere rather than realistic depiction.

A couple months ago, as a present to myself for my 40th birthday, I flew to Sydney to learn from a craftsman I greatly respect and look up to.

This is the piece I made over an intense 4 days under the guidance of @lynesandco

12, 18 and 23 carat gold, acid etched, various blended gilds, along with some abalone and pearl shell, with finger blended enamels thrown in for good measure.

This was one of, if not the best thing I have ever done for myself. Meeting and learning from Will has inspired me to keep pushing, and striving to be the best I can be at this craft I love so dearly. The guy really is a master at this thing, all while being so humble and genuine. It felt like two mates just hanging out making cool shit together.

Very grateful for the people gilding and sign painting has brought in to my life.

Love this shit.

The Last Weekend

Transience comes down Monday afternoon.

I’ll be at the Piazza Friday–Monday, 11–2pm but happy to come in earlier or stay later if you’d like to stop by and check it out.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has come through, sent messages about the work, or become one of the beautiful new collectors taking a piece home. I really appreciate you all and can’t wait to see more of you in the space over the weekend.

With the @fremantlestreetartsfestival there’s plenty happening @iandaniell.art will have doors open, @not.random.magazines is well worth a visit, and @shaydedesoleil will be open too… because I clearly need a new pair of sunnies (you’ll see why soon)
