Dear September 2020 Marcia (picture 1)
Your world is about to get rocked in ways you never could imagine. You are not only going to face some extraordinary challenges physically with your health, but you will lose loved ones - ones that are not expected to leave, you will lose friends - ones that you never would expect to not be sitting by your side in your older days, You will transition your work a few times and so many other things.
But this health stuff - let’s stick there. Other than your near death journey in 2014 - you’ve been a healthy chick. On top of it. Fit. Full of energy. Until 2021 - 2024 that is. Was it all menopause - no m’am - even thought that would be the most comfortable thing. It wasn’t. It’s not.
Your body will be unrecognizable to you - not just physically - but how it moves, breathes and functions. This isn’t an aesthetics thing - it’s a your body literally will not work thing. You will need to learn how to sleep, breath, use the bathroom, eat and exercise all over again. It will all be new. You will need to tap deep into the well of knowledge you’ve curated over the years and apply it to yourself (this will be your biggest challenge). you will close yourself off for self preservation, but you will find yourself again - in places you never thought imaginable.
Your daughters will both move on from school aged children to adults and you will feel like you missed it because you’ve been in a fog. You will process the death of your 2 nephews 3 years apart and grieve not only for your loss, but you will feel your sister in laws pain through Robb - so deeply that you can’t comprehend it. And it’s not yours, so please remember, to not take it all on.
You will need to learn to walk again. Yes, walk again. It’s wild - but you will need to do this. Yes, you will start menopause and go through it. You will even go back to “work” (if you can believe that) with one of your dearest and most loving long time friends who just gets you and sees you. This is on the other side of losing those friends you thought would always be by your side. (Continued in comments)

Happy birthday, Charles Blanks!! Here’s to another year of you being an incredible father and one of the hardest workers I know, who is always slaying the grill game and making us laugh. We love you and are so grateful to call you ours. XO

Let’s talk about the need to make goal setting slower and making “to maintain the same goals” … A goal!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are back on @themomwhine today reflecting on 2023 and the slow start to 2024 and Jason Kelce. I loved having this chat with @caseycrowetaylor and reflecting on all that we hope to maintain as we go into the year ahead.
