This shot list created Tens of Millions of Dollars in revenue, got over 100 Million Views and became written in college textbooks.

And this is also the first time it has seen the light of day outside of the original crew since about 2015.

This shot list officially change the entire trajectory of my career.

@daniel_harmon and I created this shot list after @harmon.brothers hired me to Produce and 1st Assistant Direct this viral campaign.

We always knew it would do well, but I had no idea that this production would go on to be written in college textbooks, grab over 100 Million Views and create Tens of Millions of Dollars of wealth for the awesome owners over at @squattypotty .

A lot of late nights went into the creation of this shot list as the puppeteering had to be executed perfectly along with the proper VFX plates to make the demonstrations crystal clear for the public.

I look back at this bizarre and crazy time with fondness as it officially put the nail in the coffin of the traditional commercial as we know it.

This production made Trackable Performance Media prolific in the video marketing world and I would be asked a hundred times over the same year if I could make peoples’ companies “The Next Squatty Potty”.

Harmon Brothers 🦄 ended up buying my company, Jamestown Films and I became a partner and senior creative director there for 5 memorable years. I left 2 years ago to found another company, Buck Wild Media and still call the Harmon Brothers my dear friends.

These guys really are legends.

🎬 Why Choosing the Right Actor is Your Secret Sauce to Stellar Videos! 🎬

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my decades working in film it’s that picking the right actor for your videos is like finding the perfect ingredient for a winning recipe. 🌟

This one truth will always stands out—when you hire the right actor, the entire filming experience transforms from good to mind-blowingly great. Here’s why:

The X Factor

Great actors don’t just read lines; they bring an X Factor that elevates your project to new heights. They inject life into the script, adding depth and personality that you likely never envisioned.

Their creativity and improvisation can turn a simple scene into something extraordinary. Think of them as your secret weapon to turning a basic script into a blockbuster sales piece.

A Personal Story: The Brad Pitt Laugh

Let me tell you about this little scene with Trey Warner. Trey is an amazing talent! Hire this guy! We were shooting a scene (an intro hook) that required a memorable laugh, and I told him to mimic Brad Pitt’s feigned laugh from a bar scene in Ocean’s Eleven.

If you remember, that forced laugh it’s pretty unforgettable. Trey’s take on the laugh was fantastic and perfect for this scene. And as my friend, Johnny Hanna💭 would say, this video would go on to help make Homie “millions of dollars”! Trey’s opening laugh added a layer made the scene pop. The more I hear it, the more it kills me. 🤣

And of course a special shoutout to my main man, Christian Busath slipping a disk on the left side of this screen (not really, he had the incredible Dillon Ellefson with the couch rig doing the heavy lifting). 😎

Also, a huge thanks to my good friends, Dave Bascom and Patrick Farrington for the fantastic opportunity to work with them!

Today I #givethanks for my job at BYU Broadcasting for the last 3 years. Marketing tv series with a goal to uplift and inspire has been so easy to get behind. Most of my work is done in front of a computer (especially this year), but I have been blessed to get out and direct social promos for most all of the shows I am responsible for. Covid has made it harder and more uncomfortable to do these in-person shoots (Covid testing/face masks/social distancing), but the shows must go on.
The shows I work on (the feel good category) are such beacons of hope and positivity, they are needed more now than ever before.
If you haven't yet, go check out the shows on BYUtv.org. Its free to watch, and you may find something you like.

The props guy had a bunch of old cameras that were all way cool. I didn’t take any pictures of the cameras.

To this day one of my biggest film regrets is not keeping this insanely cool wolf belt buckle from our #grip6belts shoot. #NoRagrets
