Após anos de campanhas e políticas anti-tabagismo, fumar deixou de parecer algo desejável e, aos poucos, as novas gerações foram adotando hábitos mais saudáveis (pelo menos é o que parece, nas redes!). O aumento da busca pela perfeição, porém, tem criado uma espécie de fadiga do bem-estar. Nasce, então, um movimento “anti-wellness” e, com ele, o cigarro volta a ser glamourizado como símbolo da cultura pop.

Back from Copenhagen

This year’s @3daysofdesign was all about reconnecting with the design community, catching up with our partner @pleasewaittobeseated, meeting new people and finding inspiration across the city.

While many visitors come to @3daysofdesign for the major brands, what inspired us most this year were the independent exhibitions, emerging designers and experimental formats. They were where we found some of the festival’s most exciting ideas and unexpected discoveries.

Among the highlights that stayed with us were @ukurant_, where @casparfischer’s „To Brick or Not To Brick“ was one of our favourite discoveries, „Seeking Sails“ by @hannes.and.fritz, @s.t.o.p_g.o at the Goethe Institut curated by @hahn_cuestawolf, @deoron, where @justushilfenhaus’s modular sofa stood out to us, and @other.circle at @thelabcph, featuring inspiring contributors such as @paleworks, @nm3.xyz, @innenkreis, @do__blok and @kpmberlin × @sucukundbratwurst.

Thank you to everyone we met along the way. See you next year, Copenhagen.

DESKLAMP – design by @casparfischer

An engineered, high-precision desk lamp designed not only for reading but also to appear sculptural. Powered by a battery, it can be carried effortlessly through the space. With its smooth, articulated motion, it offers multiple precise positions.

The lamp was realized for the To Brick or Not To Brick, a modular open-source furniture system that explores how good design can be democratized and made accessible. Constructed using a customizable grid and a connection system inspired by LEGO Technic, the piece can stand alone or function together with other modular elements of the collection.

Unused holes in the structure serve as connection points, allowing the object to be modified and adapted by the users themselves. They can also be repurposed for custom extensions such as handles, hooks, or power outlets.

UKURANT MAKES ROOM

For the 2026 edition of @3daysofdesign, the creative platform @ukurant_ presents “UKURANT Makes Room” at the former factory Fabrikken for Art & Design. From June 10th to 12th, the exhibition gathers twenty-six experimental works by young international designers, testing the limits of inherited traditions through an exploratory approach to new materials, production processes, and craftsmanship.

Ukurant’s Makes Room exhibition is part of 3daysofdesign 2026 in Copenhagen, running from 10 to 12 June at FABRIKKEN for Art and Design. It is the fifth Ukurant exhibition and focuses on experimental work by emerging designers, that rethink craft, materials, and production through furniture, objects, and spatial ideas.

The exhibition is curated and designed by Ukurant’s founders, and it grew out of an open call aimed at young designers, students, and recent graduates.

The setting at FABRIKKEN, a former factory, fits Ukurant’s emphasis on collaboration, process, and new voices in design, with the exhibition open daily from 10:00 to 18:00.

This was my 6th year attending MDW in some capacity, and even though big fashion gradually kind of took over the whole thing, still a bunch of studios and creatives who insist and persist in their practice were there, in spaces that support the new and fresh of the design world from a place of comunal uplifting (@the.thing.magazine wrote a good article about design week decay if you’re interested).

Even though some were a performative spectacle for god knows who, I wouldn’t lose faith just yet, there are people out there doing everything they can to express themselves genuinely through their work and chances are, they want to tell you all about it.
Happy to have been a part of the space and group we had, who restored my faith and of those who visited.

Forever in awe of @juliuswalsch and his creative dedication 🩵
