Today marks exactly one year since the tallships left Amsterdam, including hundreds of thousands of visitors. SAIL 2025 was an incredible journey, in every way possible.

In the past few days we enjoyed seeing back dozens of photos and video’s from those 5 special days with the team. And looking back we can only say we’re still incredibly proud and grateful for this whole experience.

Here are some of our favorite shots from the SAIL end film ‘United By Waves’. In our stories, we’ll share some more photos that you may have never seen..

Four years ago, I had the honour of meeting Robbie Hall (103, Women’s Auxiliary Airforce) for the very first time and we instantly connected. Her humour and intelligence fascinated me. She was the first one who stood up when we introduced the idea of German soldiers joining the military parade. Robbie said: “I don’t want to be held responsible for the behaviour of my grandparents, so we shouldn’t do that to others either. Besides, the world is a frightening place. We need our friends and thankfully Germany has become a very loyal friend.” Remarkable words from someone who lost the great and only love of her life during the Second World War.

Thank you for your lessons, Robbie. I hope you can continue sharing them with us for many years to come. And that every year, you will keep stepping out of the @taxicharity with exactly the same opening line: “Let’s do a gin & tonic.”
