MEGGO is a multidisciplinary musician who blends raw acoustic textures with modern digital manipulations, resulting in an immersive, world-building soundscape.

MEGGO draws from the bluegrass and folk traditions of the Pacific mountains where she grew up, alongside the alternative-indie world of Montreal, where she is based. Her songs explore autonomy, power, fury, and the female imagination, weaving intimate lyricism with jagged sampling and beat-driven grooves, with a voice that’s been called reminiscent of Adrianne Lenker and Julien Baker.

MEGGO creates a live experience that shifts between hushed folk intimacy and danceable, jazz-infused energy, offering a bold, genre-bending evolution of folk music. Check out her newest release ‘eavesdropper ;; the crash’ (EP 2/3 of a conceptual trilogy) to meet this sonic mind-melt.

The MEGGOverse has expanded to feature a band consisting of friends from @pastel.blank, Nora Kelly Band, FLEECE, Busty & the Bass and more, all buddies who spice up the mix with jovial talent and unique musical sauce.

TEN YEARS AGO TODAY… How is that possible?!

Just a few days after this year’s Wavelength Summer Thing, we’re reflecting on the tenth anniversary of the second edition of its spiritual predecessor, Camp Wavelength (Aug. 19-21, 2016). It was a magical weekend on Toronto Island for overnight campers and daytrippers alike, and little did we know it would be our last festival on the Island, before the following year’s flooding forced us back onto the mainland.

In 2016, another slate of fantastically curated art installations, pop-up dance performances, and poetry readings turned Artscape Gibraltar Point into a parallel world of creativity and community spirit. The musical lineup was truly diverse, from local hip-hop/soul artists LAL, Spek Won and Brendan Philip to visiting US post-punk rockers Cloud Nothings and Guerilla Toss; from local Zimbabwean ensemble Nhapitapi Mbira to Canadian indie icons Operators, Bruce Peninsula, and Michelle McAdorey. And the stories became the stuff of legend: the volunteer ice run on the ferry (it’s hard to beat “Our Volunteers Are Super Chill”), the well-timed power outage during Young Galaxy’s set, the double rainbow during Open Fortress’ dance performance on the beach, and someone rolling out a TV so that folks could watch the Tragically Hip’s final concert.

We’re glad to see others in the music community keeping the Island alive with live music, as the @torontofolkfestival will be there this weekend (Aug. 21-23) at the Ward’s Island Clubhouse — don’t miss 2026 Wavelength Music Festival & Conference vets @bursmusic at TFF tomorrow night! And who knows, maybe you’ll catch some of the WL crew throwing down karaoke @theupperdecktim on a Friday night to celebrate the end of our summer season?

DON’T MISS: A Concert in the Ruins inside the walls of St. Anne’s Anglican Church next Thursday (Aug. 27). @wherewallsmeetsky
