We invited many leading creative voices to reflect on the 2022 BLEED programming via BLEED Echo. BLEED Echo comprises a series of talks, symposiums, written commissions and a livestream party that extend on some of BLEED’s core themes and questions about the politics of borders, the nature of networked oceans, First Nations digital sovereignty, and glitches in the matrix. Dampland 🐊💧🌿 by artists Cass Lynch and Mei Swan Lim is an audio-visual work exploring Nyoongar oral storytelling and memories of place handed down over thousands of years. 🕰️ With a focus on stories referencing the last ice age and rise in sea level that followed, listeners are taken on a journey through time, across the Darling Scarp, Swan Coastal Plain, to Wadjemup, or Rottnest.

📆 Dampland is now showing as part of Polarity: Fire & Ice | Running until Sun 28 April | Free Entry

I've been thinking about some of the takeaways from the 'Art, Fire and Flood: A Symposium on Extreme Weather and the Creative Arts' at Boola Bardip museum this morning. What struck me most, was Cass Lynch talking about (paraphrased) the west's preoccupation with climate anxiety juxtaposed with Nyoongar climate (and other crises) resilience, and the idea of 'the crisis happening in the past rather than the future' which is making me rethink my approach to facilitating 'writing through climate anxiety' poetry workshops. A really stimulating discussion this morning from all panelists.
