A real pinch me moment… my first feature film! 🎬

I am so incredibly excited to be working once again with the incredible @cassius.rayner on his next project and to lead this beautiful story.

NO RETURN is an emotive drama exploring the unseen and lasting impact of domestic and controlling abuse, following a mother reunited with her teenage daughter after five years apart.

We also hope the film can help shed more light on domestic abuse, encourage conversations around it, and help people recognise experiences that can so often remain hidden.

As we’re working on a micro-budget, we are currently crowdfunding for the production - this is where we need your help! 🫵🏼

Any support would be hugely appreciated, as we really do believe this film has the potential to connect with people, open up important conversations and shine a light on something that so often happens behind closed doors.

Every donation, share and bit of support genuinely helps us get one step closer to making it.

Our Crowdfunder link is in my bio ⬆️

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I hope you’ll join us in bringing NO RETURN to life and be part of this very special journey with us! ♥️🎬

Sometimes the most powerful camera is the one already in your pocket.

At Budapest SmartFest 2025, inside the glowing labyrinth of Cinema City Mammut, we met two filmmakers who proved exactly that.

🎬 Cassius Rayner (London) and George Maarten (Amsterdam) — winners of the Smartphone Film Grand Prize — sat down with us to talk about stories, imperfections, AI, and the quiet revolution of mobile filmmaking.

A phone can be a camera.
A camera can be invisible.
Sometimes the best filmmaker is simply… a ghost in the corner.

Our interview was created for Samsung, recorded in the buzzing ecosystem of Budapest SmartFest, where AI, cinema and curiosity briefly shared the same screen.

Stop Making Long Opening Credits in Your Short Films!!!

The longer you make your film the harder it is to program!! Use your time to tell your story! Don’t waste it with opening credit sequences! It’s not needed and it makes your short longer, running the risk of making it harder to program! Be economical with your time! If it doesn’t serve the story drop it.

Register for our next May workshop in the bio where we will cover this and more for effective short making

A lot of people think you need huge cameras to be a real filmmaker, but our masterclass at Ravensbourne showed otherwise. 🎥

We recently welcomed filmmaker, @cassius.rayner, for a deep dive into mobile filmmaking as part of Set In Motion, a programme funded by @filmbarkinganddagenham. It was great to see students from @ravensbourneuk, @barkingdagenhamcollege, @brook6thform and @newcitycollegegroup all getting stuck in.

Cassius walked everyone through the technical tutorials and professional shortcuts that turn a phone into a serious filmmaking tool. After the tutorials, the groups had to put those skills to the test, producing a 60-second film under the brief: “What can you see?” 👀

Using mobile tech like this is a total game-changer for the industry. It breaks down massive barriers and proves that if you have the vision and the right techniques, you can tell a world-class story with the device already in your pocket. 💫

Why we need Marketing Material for your films

We just noticed that filmmakers again this year lack marketing material from films.

Despite receiving some savage films, we find that most submissions come without posters, trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, or electronic press kits (EPKs). This isn’t a budget issue but a foresight problem. Filmmakers need to plan how they’ll share their work with audiences after production. We encourage all filmmakers to prepare high-quality promotional materials, including images, trailers, and EPKs, to help festivals and judges better understand and promote their films.

It helps you and it helps us promote you!! Who doesn’t want that!!
